Added root omp docs for memory_edit, learn, manage_skill, generate_image, and tts, plus package-level coverage for user-facing README-only CLIs.
Added a docs-index freshness check to package check and made gen:bundle generate and reset the docs embed itself.
Fixes#3934
- Renamed references to the `quick_task` subagent to `sonic` across docs, agent definitions, prompts, and test files.
- Updated the parallel file analysis tool to spawn `sonic` subagents instead of `quick_task`.
- Documented the breaking change in the changelog along with additions and removals of other built-in subagents.
The DuckDuckGo provider hit api.duckduckgo.com (the Instant Answer API),
which only serves Wikipedia / Wolfram-Alpha-style topics — empty
AbstractText / Results / RelatedTopics for the vast majority of agent
queries. The orchestrator then rejected the empty response and surfaced
'DuckDuckGo returned no renderable search content', leaving users with
no working free fallback.
Switch the provider to POST html.duckduckgo.com/html/ (the no-JS HTML
frontend) with a browser User-Agent, parse the result blocks (unwrapping
//duckduckgo.com/l/?uddg=… redirect URLs), and map recency to the df
form field (d/w/m/y). When DuckDuckGo serves the bot-detection modal
(HTTP 200/202 with anomaly-modal body) we surface a clear
SearchProviderError so the orchestrator can fall through to the next
provider with cause attached.
Fixes#3799
- Renamed the `find` and `search` tools to `glob` and `grep` respectively across the codebase to improve command clarity.
- Implemented full-stack support for the renamed tools, including CLI arguments, system prompts, SDK exports, and tool registration.
- Added automated migration logic in `settings` to transform legacy `find` and `search` configuration keys to their new equivalents.
- Updated the `collab-web` renderer registry to ensure backwards compatibility with legacy tool outputs.
- Added tree-sitter markdown support to resolve headings into full sections in `pi-ast`.
- Enabled block operations (`SWAP.BLK`, `DEL.BLK`, `INS.BLK.POST`) on markdown headings so they encompass the entire section, including nested deeper headings.
- Updated system prompt to guide agents in using structured markdown heading edits for plans.
- Fixed `plan-mode-guard` to correctly resolve local protocol options for subagents.
- Removed deprecated eval prelude helpers `append`, `tree`, `diff`, `sort`, `uniq`, and `counter` from all supported runtimes.
- Cleaned up runtime implementations, protocol definitions, and UI rendering logic associated with the removed helpers.
- Updated project documentation, prompts, and test suites to reflect the reduced helper API surface.
- Recorded functional changes in the package changelog.
- Refactored `todo` tool to accept a single operation object instead of an `ops` array.
- Implemented parameter normalization to maintain backward compatibility with legacy array-based tool calls.
- Updated tool instructions, documentation, and UI rendering components to reflect the new interface.
- Added compatibility tests to verify rendering and execution for both legacy and current operation formats.
The eval agent() helper used `agent_type`/`return_handle` (snake_case) in
Python/Ruby/Julia and `agentType`/`returnHandle` (camelCase) in JS, forcing
the prelude docs to repeat every option twice ("JS same but camelcased").
Both are now single lowercase words identical across all four runtimes, and
`agent` matches the `task` tool's existing agent-selection parameter.
- Renamed across py/js/rb/jl preludes (signatures, forwarding, docstrings).
- Renamed the `__agent__` bridge wire protocol + `EvalAgentArgs` (`agentType`
→ `agent`, `returnHandle` → `handle`) so no prelude-side remap is needed.
- Updated prompt docs (workflow-notice.md, tools/eval.md), repo docs
(docs/tools/eval.md, docs/python-repl.md), and all bridge/prelude tests.
- CHANGELOG: Breaking Changes entry under [Unreleased].
- Removed the `readHashLines` setting to consolidate hashline display logic.
- Simplified `resolveFileDisplayMode` to derive hashline visibility solely from the active edit mode.
- Added automatic cleanup of the `readHashLines` key from existing configuration files.
- Implemented `waitForSelector` and `waitForNavigation` methods in the browser tool API.
- Introduced per-operation fail-fast budget management with dynamic timeout clamping.
- Added validation for selector engines to reject unsupported Playwright-only platform features.
- Standardized error handling to provide descriptive, named timeouts for stalled browser operations.
- Promoted `write` and `find` tools to `essential` status to ensure they are always available regardless of discovery mode.
- Updated `DEFAULT_ESSENTIAL_TOOL_NAMES` to include these tools by default.
- Updated documentation and tests to reflect the change in default essential tool availability.
Fixes#3165
- Implemented `tab.ariaSnapshot()` to capture and represent page structures as ARIA-tree YAML.
- Introduced `tab.ref()` and ref-based selector parsing to enable precise element interaction via unique ARIA identifiers.
- Integrated automated script bundling for cross-environment evaluation of ARIA snapshot logic.
- Updated browser action methods to resolve and target elements using ARIA-ref handles.
- Implement JSON repair and strict argument validation to sanitize raw payloads and redact sensitive information from agent event logs.
- Add automatic authentication fallback for benchmark model resolution to ensure consistent performance testing across providers.
- Refactor search tool API parameters by replacing `i` with a case-sensitive `case` boolean flag for clarity.
- Update session history formatting to ensure empty objects are consistently serialized as `{}` instead of empty strings.
- Removed the customizable `timeout` parameter from the tool schema and implementation.
- Fixed the timeout duration to 5 seconds to simplify tool usage.
- Updated documentation and error messages to advise narrowing search patterns instead of adjusting timeouts.
- Switch all UI components and tests from sharp box corners (`boxSharp`) to rounded ones (`boxRound`).
- Update `Theme` to re-export sharp junction symbols (tees and cross) under `boxRound` to ensure consistent divider rendering in rounded boxes.
- Remove outdated architectural notes regarding forced tool-choice queues in documentation.
- Standardized elision markers across all tool outputs and filters to use cohesive `[...N [type] elided...]`, `[...Nln elided...]`, and `[...xB elided...]` syntax.
- Updated documentation, prompts, and test expectations to reflect the unified elision format.
- Improved transcript viewer robustness by preventing content aliasing through path-inclusive signature hashing.
- Added logic to clear stale transcript content when associated session files are deleted, accompanied by verifying test cases.
- Centralized decoding of tmux's `extended-keys` control sequences (`csi-u` and `xterm` formats) into a shared utility.
- Updated the multi-line editor and single-line input to use this decoder, preventing escape tails (e.g., `[27;5;106~`) from leaking into the text buffer.
- Added parity to the single-line input by explicitly stripping any remaining control characters after decoding to ensure data integrity.
- Removed the `fflate` dependency in favor of using `node:zlib` for ZIP operations.
- Updated documentation and internal code comments to reflect the transition to native `node:zlib` DEFLATE support.
- Centralized archive operations into a new `utils/zip.ts` module with unified support for ZIP, tar, and tar.gz formats.
- Optimized ZIP reading using lazy, ranged central-directory access and implemented ZIP64 support for large files.
- Hardened archive extraction with directory traversal protection and configured memory limits for loading and extraction.
- Refactored tool-specific logic to utilize the new centralized utility and deleted the redundant `archive-reader.ts`.
- Derived the `SEARCH_PROVIDER_ORDER`, `SEARCH_PROVIDER_PREFERENCES`, and `SEARCH_PROVIDER_LABELS` metadata dynamically from a single `SEARCH_PROVIDER_OPTIONS` source of truth.
- Reprioritized the default search provider sequence, shifting higher-order choices like Perplexity, Gemini, and Anthropic ahead of Tavily and Brave.

- Added maxWidth and theme color options to Mermaid ASCII resolution in markdown flow.
- Re-rendered Mermaid ASCII in both directions and clipped output to available width.
Register tree-sitter-elisp in the shared AST language registry so
.el files infer the emacs-lisp grammar across blockRangeAt,
summarizeCode, astGrep/astEdit, and native aliases.
This fixes edit-tool block operations on top-level Emacs Lisp forms
instead of returning unsupported-language block errors.
- Add canonical emacs-lisp aliases and .el extension inference.
- Teach summaries to fold Lisp forms without grouping arbitrary lists.
- Map .el rendering and highlighting aliases through coding-agent/native.
- Cover defun, ERT, use-package, with-eval-after-load, pcase,
summary, astMatch, astEdit, and edit-tool insertion paths.
- Document the language and update package changelogs.
- Renamed line and block patch op verbs to XCHG, DEL, and INS in parsing and formatting.
- Updated grammar and tokenizer to support XCHG.BLK, DEL.BLK, and INS.PRE/POST/HEAD/TAIL forms.
- Updated diagnostics, docs, prompts, tests, and changelog to use XCHG/DEL/INS-based operators.
- Expanded session-stats parsing to normalize legacy op aliases to compact IDs.
- Updated JS eval helper option parsing to accept positional optional args or a trailing plain-object options argument, while rejecting mixed or invalid forms.
- Updated `read` to route non-`local://` URI paths through the `read` tool with line selectors so offset/limit slicing works for artifact-style resources.
- Expanded JS executor tests for positional reads, nullable slot skipping, and delegated URI read slicing.
- Updated the resize fast-path repaint to remove the terminal full-screen clear and instead overwrite the viewport in place at home, rewriting each row via `#lineRewriteSequence`.
- Passed the viewport width into `#emitResizeViewport` so each row self-clears only its tail with CSI K while resize drag remains active.
- Added coverage in `resize-viewport-defer.test.ts` confirming drag-time writes omit ED2/ED3 clears and that ED3 is emitted when the resize settles.
- Re-polled steering at the loop yield boundary and included it in the pre-stop pending batch so late messages are processed immediately.
- Added session-side draining for stranded queued messages, scheduling an auto-continue when a prompt settles and follow-ups or steers remain.
- Added a regression test for late steering injection at yield and updated mid-turn collab prompt handling to keep steering messages in the pending display queue until consumed.
- Removed the `note` operation from `TodoOp` validation and the `text` field from todo operation payloads.
- Deleted `TodoItem` note storage and stripped note-aware logic from execution, markdown round-trip helpers, summaries, and rendering.
- Updated todo docs and prompt schema text to remove `note` usage and keep the public operation set aligned.
- Updated block resolution to detect structural-closing-line anchors and convert unresolvable `insert after block` edits into plain `insert after` inserts while emitting a dedicated warning.
- Propagated these resolver warnings through `PatchSection` and `Patcher` results so parse and application callers receive them.
- Added tests covering the closer-anchor fallback and confirming non-closer unresolved block anchors still throw.
- Extended `AgentTool.concurrency` to accept per-call resolver functions and resolved concurrency mode from each tool call, falling back to exclusive on resolver errors.
- Updated BashTool to schedule non-PTY calls as shared and PTY calls as exclusive so non-interactive bash calls can run in parallel within one message.
- Tracked in-use persistent shell sessions in the bash executor and routed overlapping calls on the same session key to isolated one-shot shells while preserving owner session availability.
A subagent's send await:true to Main during a blocking task spawn was a structural deadlock: deliverIrcMessage queues mid-turn messages as step-boundary asides, but Main's next boundary requires the sender's own batch to finish, so the sender always burned the full irc.timeoutMs. Awaited sends now pass expectsReply through IrcBus.send; a mid-turn recipient with async.enabled off generates an ephemeral no-tools reply via runEphemeralTurn, records an irc:autoreply aside in its own history, and delivers it back over the bus with replyTo threading so the sender's waiter resolves.
- Updated TaskTool to skip `session.asyncJobManager` and run `task` spawns inline whenever `async.enabled` is false.
- Set `async.enabled` default to `true` and updated task prompts/settings text to reflect async-versus-sync behavior.
- Adjusted task batching tests to cover both async background execution and synchronous batched execution when async is disabled.
Updated the hashline edit prompt and internal edit docs to make insert-after-block anchors opener-only, and added regression coverage for closing-delimiter anchors and prompt guidance.\n\nFixes #2292
- Replaced task-simple-mode with a `task.batch` setting enabled by default.
- Updated task schema to use batch `{agent, context, tasks[]}` payloads.
- Migrated task execution to spawn one async job per task and merge outputs.
- Removed per-call schema passing while preserving legacy flat task calls.
- Removed `resume` from task params and schema, requiring agent and assignment inputs.
- Dropped resume continuation paths in task execution and call rendering, always spawning a new agent.
- Removed the `irc.enabled` setting and computed IRC availability by task-depth rules.
- Updated task follow-up guidance to use IRC messaging/history links instead of `task(resume:)`.
