The /hotkeys table described app.exit (Ctrl+D) as "Exit (when editor is
empty)", implying readline/EOF-style conditional exit. The handler exits
unconditionally and snapshots the current prompt as a resumable draft
regardless of editor content (custom-editor.ts fires onExit for app.exit
with no empty check; input-controller.ts handleCtrlD calls shutdown()
unconditionally, which persists the draft). Corrected the line to
"Exit (saves current prompt as draft)".
Fixes#8530
- Stage transcript initialization inside a detached TranscriptContainer to keep existing messages visible during incremental rendering.
- Add fallback state restoration in InteractiveMode.renderInitialMessages when chat rendering is aborted or fails.
- Update render-initial-messages tests to assert that old transcripts remain visible until replacements are fully committed.
Key hints resolved modifier tokens through a static, platform-agnostic label map with no `super` entry, so on macOS the shipped `super+v` paste default rendered 'Super+V' (no such key on a Mac) and `alt` always rendered 'Alt' instead of 'Option'. The static /hotkeys navigation rows were hardcoded with macOS 'Option'/'Cmd' names on every platform, so Linux/Windows users saw 'Cmd+Left'.
Modifier labels are now platform-aware: on darwin `alt` renders 'Option' and `super` renders 'Cmd'; every other platform keeps 'Alt'/'Super'. The platform is resolved through a single seam (setKeyHintPlatform/keyHintPlatform) mirroring the TUI's setKittyProtocolActive, keeping hint output deterministic in tests without mutating process.platform. The static /hotkeys rows use the same convention and drop the macOS-only Cmd line-start/end fragments (which map to no binding) off darwin.
Fixes#8235
Kept initialChatRendered false until the incremental cold-start replay settles, preventing extension display callbacks from launching a synchronous rebuild into a partially replayed transcript. If session entries arrive while the replay yields, discard the stale partial tree and replay the current context before publishing the initialized state.
Fixes#8133
Moved the per-message rebuild yield to the top of the loop so it runs regardless of which early continue path (preserved-live, image-only, or grouped read result) an iteration takes. A large parallel read-result batch replays entirely through the isReadGroupResult continue, which previously skipped the trailing yield and rebuilt the whole batch in one event-loop turn.
Fixes#8133
Replayed idle transcripts in bounded message and time chunks, painting cleared scrollback between macrotasks so terminal input remains responsive during restore and tree navigation. Kept streaming rebuilds atomic and migrated every rebuild caller to await completion.
Fixes#8133
- Routed session tool provenance through live and rebuilt transcript render paths.
- Kept same-named extension tools on the generic renderer while preserving native tool rendering.
- Added regression coverage for an external recall result collision.
Fixes#7770
- The 'N tool calls elided' replay placeholder leaked tool activity while
display.hideToolActivity was on; it is now a visibility-aware component
wired into both the hotkey and /settings toggle paths.
- Added replay + live-reveal regression coverage.
- Add the `app.live.toggle` keybinding defaulted to `Ctrl+L` to start or stop live voice mode.
- Remap the default display-reset action (`app.display.reset`) from `Ctrl+L` to `Alt+L`.
- Update the live visualizer to listen for stop keys so the toggle chord terminates active sessions.
- Implemented clipboard register management, parsing, and execution rules for CUT, COPY, and PASTE operations in the hashline engine.
- Added session-persistent clipboard state and integration across agent session execution, diff previews, and streaming tools.
- Added comprehensive validation, error messages, recovery handling, and test coverage for clipboard and block operations.
New live, rebuilt, and transcript-builder assistant components now inherit the active tool-output expansion state before provider errors render.
Added regression coverage for an error arriving after expanded mode was already enabled.
Fixes#6555
computeNonMessageBreakdown estimated Skills tokens from the unfiltered
session.skills registry and subtracted that from the first system-prompt
block, which only ever contained the rendered (filtered) skills. Hidden
explicit-only skills (hide/disable-model-invocation) and all skills when
the read tool was absent inflated Skills and clamped System prompt to 0.
Add a renderedSkills helper mirroring buildSystemPrompt's filter and use
it for the Skills estimate so the category split matches the provider
prompt.
Fixes#6498
- Extracted internal handlers and logic from AgentSession into dedicated runner, guard, and coordinator modules.
- Created standalone modules for bash execution, evaluation runners, IRC bridging, and prewalk coordination.
- Established dedicated session components for tracking stats, todos, streams, and retry fallback chains.
- Preserved existing session behavior while significantly reducing monolithic class size and complexity.
Status presenters (showWarning/showError/showStatus and extension/tool
error presenters) baked theme.fg() into Text at construction, so a
warning shown while the auto-theme default guess was dark kept the
dark-mode color after async appearance detection switched the active
theme to light — dark-catppuccin Mocha yellow on the light Latte
background (1.12:1 contrast, effectively invisible).
Add Text.setStyleFn(), a foreground styler evaluated at render time, and
route the transient status presenters through it. Because the coding
agent invalidates status components on onThemeChange, a theme swap now
re-shapes them against the live theme instead of replaying the palette
active when they were constructed.
Fixes#6337
Preserved settled user and assistant component instances during compaction-only transcript rebuilds so warmed Markdown and layout caches remain valid.
Covered both manual and automatic compaction paths with focused regression tests.
Fixes#6033
Scoped ordinary input frames to the focused component while retaining a full compose when input moves focus. Explicitly repainted the coding-agent pending-message sibling and covered stable focus, wrapped growth, focus movement, and queue clearing.
Fixes#5928
- Added the `xd://` virtual device protocol (`internal-urls/xd-protocol.ts`, `tools/xdev.ts`): tools declaring `loadMode: "discoverable"` are unmounted from the request tools array and driven via `read xd://` (list/docs+schema) and `write xd://<tool>` (execute), gated by the `tools.xdev` setting (default on) and inlined into the system prompt.
- Merged the `irc`, `job`, and `launch` tools into a single `hub` tool (`tools/hub/`, `async/job-manager.ts`): messaging keeps `send`/`inbox`/`list`, job control maps to `wait`/`cancel`/`jobs`, process supervision keeps `start`/`logs`/`stop`/`restart`/`describe` with `ps`, and the unified `wait` races background jobs against peer messages; SDK `IrcTool`/`JobTool`/`LaunchTool` are replaced by `HubTool`.
- Removed the hidden `resolve` tool in favor of the `xd://resolve`/`xd://reject`/`xd://propose` resolution devices, auto-including `write` whenever a deferrable tool or plan mode is present.
- Removed the BM25 tool-discovery system: the `search_tool_bm25` tool, the `tool-discovery` module, the `tools.discoveryMode`/`mcp.discoveryMode`/`mcp.discoveryDefaultServers`/`tools.essentialOverride` settings, per-tool MCP selection, and the `mcp_tool_selection` message type.
- Unified tool presentation on `ToolLoadMode` (`essential`|`discoverable`), replacing the custom-tool `xdev?: boolean` opt-out; custom, extension, MCP, RPC host, image-generation, and TTS tools now default to `discoverable`, and added a `satisfies` predicate to `SoftToolRequirement`.
- Removed the standalone `ssh` command tool and `ssh/ssh-executor` (the `ssh://` read/write/search protocol stays), and made `--tools` address hidden built-ins.
- Updated collab-web to render `xd://` dispatches and `hub` op families, dropped the `search_tool_bm25`/`ssh`/`report-finding` renderers, refreshed tool docs and prompts, and migrated the affected tests and changelogs.
- Normalized completed image_generation_call results into assistant image blocks.
- Persisted image bytes through the session blob store and rendered them in live, replay, ACP, proxy, telemetry, and HTML paths.
- Added response normalization, persistence, and TUI rendering regressions.
Fixes#4768
- Added `StrippedToolCallsMarker` to identify assistant messages with dangling tool calls that were removed during context building.
- Updated `buildSessionContext` to preserve turn entries in transcripts even when all content is stripped, marking them with the count of elided calls.
- Updated `UiHelpers` to render a dim, italicized placeholder in the TUI when an assistant message has elided tool calls, preventing silent activity gaps.
- Updated transcript session context to use display.collapseCompacted setting instead of a hardcoded boolean.
- Enabled user-defined control over whether compacted history is collapsed during live rendering sessions.
- Implemented `/queue` command and `->`/`=>` shorthands to support deferred, sequential message processing.
- Added a robust parsing utility to handle various list-based queue inputs and automate yield management.
- Integrated visual decorations and state tracking to provide real-time feedback on queueing status.
- Enabled non-cursor line text decoration in the TUI to support dynamic queue header rendering and list numbering.
- Enabled persistence of dangling tool calls during transcript rebuilds by adding `keepDanglingToolCalls` configuration.
- Integrated `seal()` logic for pending tool blocks to properly finalize history during idle session states.
- Enhanced UI helpers and session context to preserve assistant turns during streaming or mid-turn rebuilds.
- Added comprehensive unit and integration tests to verify correct tool call tracking and transcript integrity.
- Split mixed assistant text into per-tool segments instead of one post-tool tail.
- Insert each segment immediately after its preceding tool component across live and rebuilt transcripts.
- Extended the regression test to cover two tool calls with middle and final assistant text.
Fixes#4871
- Split mixed assistant messages so pre-tool text stays before tool panels while trailing text renders after the tool timeline.
- Applied the split to live streaming, transcript rebuilds, and file-backed transcript rendering.
- Added a focused EventController regression test for text/toolCall/text Cursor-shaped turns.
Fixes#4871
The token-usage row shown under assistant messages (display.showTokenUsage) now leads with the turn's local wall-clock time down to the second (YYYY-MM-DD HH:mm:ss), sourced from the assistant message's persisted timestamp so live, rebuilt, and restored transcripts all show the turn time rather than the view time.
createUsageRowBlock takes timestamp as an optional trailing argument, preserving its (usage, durationMs, ttftMs) public call contract on the package's ./modes/components/* export surface.
