- Stamped a per-owner delivery generation on each async-result follow-up.
- Bumped the generation on session transitions and dropped stale-generation
deliveries at format-time and flush-time, closing the job-id-reuse race.
- Reverted the fragile persistent-suppression eviction to full row removal.
- Covered the reused-id late-delivery contract at the transcript level.
Fixes#6828
- Evicted jobs now drop queued/in-flight deliveries and stay suppressed.
- /new clears already-queued async-result yield follow-ups.
- Added a transcript-level test asserting no prior-session result leaks.
Fixes#6828
Three-piece architecture so subagents inherit async.enabled and
bash.autoBackground.enabled instead of having both force-disabled:
- Owner-routed delivery: AsyncJobManager gains registerDeliverySink /
waitForOwnerJobs; every AgentSession registers a sink for its own agent
id, so background job results inject into the owning agent's run.
Owned deliveries with no live sink dead-letter (result retained on the
job row) instead of misrouting into the first top-level session.
- Quiescence barrier: a subagent's final yield with owner jobs still
running/undelivered is a scheduling pause, not completion. The run
driver notifies the model once (hub wait/cancel), settles owner work,
and folds results in as async-result follow-ups; teardown cancels and
awaits surviving jobs before isolation worktree capture/cleanup.
- Steering soft channel: queued steering no longer hard-aborts
non-interruptible tools; it aborts interruptible waits and raises a
cooperative ToolCallContext.steeringSignal. The mid-batch watch runs
for every batch, and auto-backgroundable bash backgrounds itself on
steer so incoming messages inject promptly with no work lost.
Forwarded async task progress metadata into job snapshots so polling rows can render the effective resolved model and reasoning selector.
Added focused renderer coverage for enabled, disabled, malformed, and bash job rows.
Fixes#5060
- Added the `xd://` virtual device protocol (`internal-urls/xd-protocol.ts`, `tools/xdev.ts`): tools declaring `loadMode: "discoverable"` are unmounted from the request tools array and driven via `read xd://` (list/docs+schema) and `write xd://<tool>` (execute), gated by the `tools.xdev` setting (default on) and inlined into the system prompt.
- Merged the `irc`, `job`, and `launch` tools into a single `hub` tool (`tools/hub/`, `async/job-manager.ts`): messaging keeps `send`/`inbox`/`list`, job control maps to `wait`/`cancel`/`jobs`, process supervision keeps `start`/`logs`/`stop`/`restart`/`describe` with `ps`, and the unified `wait` races background jobs against peer messages; SDK `IrcTool`/`JobTool`/`LaunchTool` are replaced by `HubTool`.
- Removed the hidden `resolve` tool in favor of the `xd://resolve`/`xd://reject`/`xd://propose` resolution devices, auto-including `write` whenever a deferrable tool or plan mode is present.
- Removed the BM25 tool-discovery system: the `search_tool_bm25` tool, the `tool-discovery` module, the `tools.discoveryMode`/`mcp.discoveryMode`/`mcp.discoveryDefaultServers`/`tools.essentialOverride` settings, per-tool MCP selection, and the `mcp_tool_selection` message type.
- Unified tool presentation on `ToolLoadMode` (`essential`|`discoverable`), replacing the custom-tool `xdev?: boolean` opt-out; custom, extension, MCP, RPC host, image-generation, and TTS tools now default to `discoverable`, and added a `satisfies` predicate to `SoftToolRequirement`.
- Removed the standalone `ssh` command tool and `ssh/ssh-executor` (the `ssh://` read/write/search protocol stays), and made `--tools` address hidden built-ins.
- Updated collab-web to render `xd://` dispatches and `hub` op families, dropped the `search_tool_bm25`/`ssh`/`report-finding` renderers, refreshed tool docs and prompts, and migrated the affected tests and changelogs.
- Enabled granular task execution by allowing batches to interleave blocking items with non-blocking async background spawns.
- Updated task orchestration to support simultaneous inline result collection and persistent background job tracking.
- Improved agent visibility in the job tool by reporting running subagents even when not explicitly linked to a backing job ID.
- Enhanced terminal state handling to prevent premature tool block closures while async background operations remain active.
- Added a smart poll-wait mode to AsyncJobManager with per-owner escalation ladder logic and a reset timer for idle pauses.
- Updated job polling to use the adaptive wait when `async.pollWaitDuration` is `smart` and to record poll completion timing for subsequent waits.
- Expanded async job settings and tests so `smart` is the default option and escalation, reset, and owner isolation behavior are covered.
Removes isBackgroundJobSupportEnabled and JobTool.createIf; the tool is now registered unconditionally via `new JobTool(s)`. `async.enabled` now gates async bash commands only — the task tool runs asynchronously regardless. Deletes the async/support module and its barrel re-export.
artifact spill now includes the head-retained bytes (full capture was missing first ~20KB); chunk throttle coalesces instead of dropping; cd-prefix extraction defers shell-expanded paths; interceptor rule is quote-aware and catches clobber and variable targets; completed async jobs release their Shell; at job cap commands degrade to foreground; PTY mode drops the non-interactive env and notes silent downgrades; timeout/abort annotations always appended; removed dead idle-timeout-watchdog.
- Changed `AgentOutputManager` to use requested names verbatim, adding `-2`/`-3` suffixes only on repeats (e.g. `Anna`, `Anna-2`).
- Renamed main agent id from `0-Main` to `Main`; nested ids now use dot notation without numeric prefix (e.g. `Parent.Child`).
- Updated task widget to render dotted hierarchy as `Parent>Child` breadcrumb without leading index.
- Resume scan now tracks seen names instead of a counter to avoid clobbering prior outputs.
- Tracked ACP tool-call inputs per session and replayed them via `toolArgsById`/`getToolArgs` plumbing.
- Merged ACP tool execution end content from start and result events so command output replay preserves original args.
- Scoped ACP async-job draining by session `ownerId` and `agentId` with in-flight tracking and permission-gated deferred turns.
- Refactored compaction telemetry and async tests with per-test telemetry setup and asynchronous teardown resets.
- Added ownerId metadata to async jobs and to task/bash progress items from the session agent id.
- Extended async job registration and query methods with optional owner filters, and updated cancelAll to target matching owners.
- Updated session handoff and disposal so subagents inherit the parent manager, top-level sessions own it, and teardown cancels own jobs only.
- Added owner-aware async-job tests using hold/AbortSignal and scoped cancelAll assertions for running versus cancelled jobs.
- Added process-wide singleton instances for InternalUrlRouter, AsyncJobManager, and MCPManager.
- Changed internal URL protocols to resolve through registered sessions and scan all active roots/datasets for matches.
- Refactored agent, artifact, memory, rule, skill, jobs, and mcp handlers to use shared manager and rule/skill state.
- Removed per-session protocol/tool wiring and switched tests to initialize and reset global singleton state.
- Added `toolStrictMode` support with `all_strict`/`none`/`mixed` options to OpenAI compatibility.
- Fixed OpenAI-completion strict-mode flows by capturing failed HTTP responses and retrying once as non-strict.
- Fixed completion error reporting by surfacing captured status, headers, and JSON `type`/`param`/`code` details.
- Improved strict-schema enforcement with WeakMap memoization and circular-schema detection in sanitization.
- Fixed OpenRouter provider lookup by resolving fallback model IDs for suffix and date variants in registry resolution.
- Refactored benchmark tooling and added async RPC error-window tracking for scheduled run execution.
- Trimmed preferredId once before evaluating fallback conditions.
- Replaced Snowflake-based default ID creation with an incremental bg_* scan.
- Returned the first bg_* value not currently present in #jobs for deterministic IDs.
Add watchJobs/unwatchJobs API to AsyncJobManager to track jobs being
actively awaited via the await tool. This prevents the race condition
where jobs complete while being awaited, causing redundant system
notices that trigger unnecessary agent turns.
Changes:
- Add #watchedJobs Set to track actively awaited jobs
- Skip delivery for watched jobs in #enqueueDelivery and #runDeliveryLoop
- AwaitTool now calls watchJobs() before wait and unwatchJobs() after
- Add tests for watched job behavior
