- Added setup wizard with provider login, glyph mode, and theme scenes shown once per setup version.
- Wired `omp setup` (no args) to trigger the wizard in a TTY; `--check`/`--json` still show help.
- Extracted `gradientEscape` and exported `PI_LOGO`/`ShineConfig` from welcome for shared use in splash/outro.
- Fixed race condition in `setSymbolPreset`/`setColorBlindMode` by tracking load request IDs.
- Added `omp completions ` command generating scripts from live command/flag metadata.
- Added hidden `omp __complete` helper for dynamic model and session candidates.
- Completions never drift from the CLI: flags, enums, and subcommands are derived from static descriptors.
- Added a new `providers.memoryModel` setting with tiny memory model options and `ONLINE_MEMORY_MODEL_KEY` default in settings.
- Updated Mnemosyne provider resolution so a configured local tiny model overrode remote completion and used new memory extraction and consolidation prompts.
- Expanded the tiny-model CLI registry to download and report all local tiny models (title plus memory) through a unified list.
- Added tiny-title protocol contracts, including progress-state unions, message payloads, and transport interfaces.
- Added title text utilities to truncate long inputs, wrap `<user-message>` blocks, and normalize generated titles.
- Added tiny-title model registry and helpers with type-safe keys and runtime optional loading via optionalDependencies.
- Added client-side worker orchestration with spawn fallback, request queueing, progress/error routing, and smoke-test APIs.
- Added worker runtime for model resolution, prompt-based inference, lock-based install retries, and close-time cache clear.
Bug 1: capability loaders in src/discovery/builtin.ts only walked
.omp/ and ~/.omp/agent/, so extension packages registered via
extensions: in settings or --extension on the CLI shipped their
skills/, hooks/pre|post/, tools/, commands/, rules/, prompts/, and
.mcp.json silently — the docs at omp.sh/docs/extension-authoring
advertise the opposite. Add a new omp-plugins discovery provider that
scans every configured extension package directory for those
sub-trees, plus a small omp-extension-roots helper that resolves the
union of settings-driven and CLI-injected roots. main.ts injects CLI
extension paths via injectOmpExtensionCliRoots before any capability
load.
Bug 2: install was never registered as a top-level subcommand, so
`omp install ./my-extension` was rewritten to `launch install
./my-extension` and forwarded to the LLM as an initial prompt. Add a
top-level install command that routes local paths to plugin link and
remote specs to plugin install. Extract the command table into
src/cli-commands.ts so tests can introspect registered subcommands
without triggering cli.ts's top-level await.
Fixes#1496
Added named OMP profiles that isolate agent state (auth credentials,
sessions, settings, model cache, history, memories, blobs, plus
config root subdirs) under `~/.omp/profiles/<name>/agent/`. Activated
via `--profile <name>` or `OMP_PROFILE=<name>`; `default` maps back to
the regular `~/.omp/agent/` tree.
Added `--alias <command>` to generate a shell shortcut (e.g.
`omp-work`) that forwards `omp --profile <name>`. Detects the active
shell (bash, zsh, fish, PowerShell, pwsh), writes a wrapper into the
correct rc file, and preserves subcommands like `update`, `--version`,
and `--model` because the wrapper passes through argv unchanged.
The `--profile`/`--alias` bootstrap pre-parser lives in
`packages/coding-agent/src/cli/profile-bootstrap.ts` and runs before
any module that touches `getAgentDir()` (notably `@oh-my-pi/pi-utils/env`,
which eagerly loads `.env` from the agent directory at its own import
time). The pre-parser mirrors `parseArgs` value-consumption rules and
honors `--`, so commands like `omp --system-prompt --profile foo` pass
the literal `--profile` through as the prompt body instead of silently
activating profile `foo`.
XDG resolution for named profiles is keyed on the profile-specific
XDG path (`$XDG_*_HOME/omp/profiles/<name>`), never the base app root,
so a profile's location is decided once at first activation and stays
stable even after `omp config init-xdg` materializes the base later.
The default profile keeps its existing base-app-root check.
`setProfile(undefined)` (and `setProfile("default")`) restores the
pre-profile `PI_CODING_AGENT_DIR` snapshot taken at first activation
instead of unconditionally deleting it. `setAgentDir` refreshes the
snapshot since that call is the user explicitly redefining the
baseline.
Validation rejects profile names that match `.`/`..`, fail
`/^[A-Za-z0-9][A-Za-z0-9._-]{0,63}$/`, or hit a Windows reserved
device name (`CON`, `PRN`, `AUX`, `NUL`, `COM0-9`, `LPT0-9`, including
dotted variants like `CON.txt`) — those would let `setProfile` accept
the input only for directory creation to fail later with confusing
errors on Windows.
- Added `ToolTier`, `ToolApproval`, and `ToolApprovalDecision` types and exported approval APIs.
- Updated approval-mode options from `auto|prompt|custom` to `always-ask|write|yolo` and defaulted mode to `yolo`.
- Changed approval resolution to apply per-tool decisions first, then mode-tier limits, with legacy-mode migration.
- Assigned read/write/exec `approval` and approval-detail prompts across built-in, custom, extension, and MCP tools.
- Added a new `approvalMode` argument to CLI parsing with validation for `auto`, `prompt`, and `custom` values.
- Registered `--approval-mode` on the launch command so it appears in generated help output.
- Applied the parsed approval mode as a runtime override on `Settings`, ensuring downstream `tools.approvalMode` reads reflect the CLI value.
- Decouple the per-tool approval gate from extension presence. ExtensionRunner
and the ExtensionToolWrapper that hosts the gate are now constructed
unconditionally in createAgentSession. Previously the runner was only built
when extensionsResult.extensions.length > 0, so the entire approval system
silently disappeared for sessions with no extensions loaded — any
tools.approvalMode: prompt|custom setting was a no-op without feedback.
Today this hole was masked by createAutoresearchExtension always being
pushed inline; the unconditional construction makes the safety invariant
explicit, and a new regression test in approval-mode.test.ts pins it.
- Extend CRITICAL_BASH_PATTERNS to cover remote-fetch-then-execute shapes
that the original `bash <(curl …)` regex missed:
- `source <(curl …)` / `. <(curl …)` (anchored at command boundary so
`find . -name foo` doesn't false-positive)
- `eval "$(curl …)"` / `eval $(curl …)` / `eval `curl …``
Also adds `chmod -R` symbolic-mode forms (`u+x`, `u+rwx,o+w …`) targeting
filesystem root, and `tee` / `tee -a` writes to /etc/{passwd,shadow,sudoers}
(the standard way to write root-owned files without redirect). Benign
forms (`source ./local.sh`, `chmod -R u+x ./build`, `tee /var/log/app.log`,
`eval "$VAR"`) are pinned negative in the test suite.
- Extend formatApprovalPrompt with payload previews for the destructive tools
that previously rendered as bare `Allow tool: <name>`: eval (language +
first cell's code), task (agent + first task's id + assignment), ast_edit
(first op's pattern / replacement / paths), browser (action + tab + url +
code), and write content (alongside path). For `task` in particular this
closes the gap that docs/approval-mode.md's "parent's approval covers the
subagent" claim was waving at — the prompt now actually shows what's being
delegated.
- Tighten isMcpToolName: drop the fallback `|| toolName.includes("__")` so
an extension tool legally named `my__feature` or `pkg__util__do` is no
longer falsely labelled `Origin: MCP server tool` in the approval prompt.
Strict `mcp__` prefix only.
- Revert the cargo-cult `{ autoApprove: true } as AgentToolContext` insertions
in agent-session-python-cleanup.test.ts and sdk-move-cwd.test.ts. The tests
create sessions without passing settings, so the wrapper falls through to
approvalMode "auto" automatically; the explicit flag was unnecessary and
the `as AgentToolContext` cast hid that autoApprove lives on
CustomToolContext, not AgentToolContext.
- Document in commands/launch.ts the dual --auto-approve declaration (oclif
Flags for --help, manual parseArgs for runtime) so a future rename catches
both call sites.
- Promote the subagent caveat in docs/approval-mode.md to a callout near the
top: anything `task` is asked to do runs unattended once the parent task
call is approved.
Verification:
- bun test packages/coding-agent/test/tools/approval.test.ts → 75 pass / 0 fail
(was 57; +18 cases covering new remote-exec patterns, chmod symbolic, tee
/etc, isMcp negative, and eval/task/ast_edit/browser/write payload previews)
- bun test packages/coding-agent/test/tools/approval-mode.test.ts → 7 pass /
0 fail (was 7; +1 case asserting extensionRunner is always constructed)
- bun tsc --noEmit -p packages/coding-agent → clean
- bun x biome check . → clean
- Windows EBUSY tempdir-cleanup noise in agent-session-python-cleanup and
sdk-move-cwd is pre-existing on this branch (already documented in the
PR body) and absent on Linux CI.
Re-introduces the per-tool approval system from luzidd's commit 39124f3 (which
is no longer reachable from main) and improves it before re-landing.
What's restored:
- ApprovalPolicy (allow/deny/prompt) plus DEFAULT_APPROVAL_POLICIES.
- ACTION_EXCEPTIONS registry (LSP read-only, bash critical patterns).
- getApprovalPolicy() six-level resolution order.
- ExtensionToolWrapper.execute() gate before extension handlers.
- --auto-approve / --yolo CLI flag and tools.approval.<tool> user config.
- docs/approval-mode.md user guide.
What's improved over the original:
- Replaced unchecked 'as any' casts with typed unknown narrowing helpers.
- Validate userConfig values: invalid strings, numbers, etc. fall through to
the built-in default instead of being silently honoured (typo no longer
locks a tool out or grants implicit approval).
- Expanded CRITICAL_BASH_PATTERNS: chmod -R /, chown -R /, bash <(curl ...),
writes to /etc/passwd|shadow|sudoers, shutdown/reboot/halt/init 0,
kill -9 1, nc -e / nc -c reverse shells. Pattern shapes require a
command-position boundary so 'npm run reboot-tests' and 'echo "shutdown the
queue"' don't false-positive.
- Added DEBUG_READONLY_ACTIONS exception so DAP inspection actions (threads,
stack_trace, variables, scopes, read_memory, …) auto-allow while
execution-side actions (launch, attach, continue, evaluate, write_memory,
set_breakpoint, …) still prompt.
- formatApprovalPrompt: labels mcp__<server>__<tool> calls as MCP server
tools, surfaces ssh host + command, recognises the modern § hashline header
for edit, and truncates >240-char fields so a heredoc-sized body cannot
blow out the confirmation dialog.
- Test suite grown from 40 to 57 cases — new coverage for invalid user
config, the extended critical-bash patterns, benign-keyword negatives,
debug exceptions, MCP/ssh prompt formatting, and command truncation.
Verification:
- bun test packages/coding-agent/test/tools/approval.test.ts -> 57 pass
- bun x biome check . -> clean
- bun run check:ts across all 9 workspaces -> clean
- Migrated OAuth provider authentication from standalone `pi-ai` CLI to in-process `AuthStorage.login()` flow in coding-agent.
- Made provider argument optional for `login` and `logout` commands with interactive provider picker when omitted.
- Added `list` command to enumerate registered OAuth providers with optional `--json` output format.
- Removed `pi-ai` CLI binary and `bin` entry from @oh-my-pi/ai package; library API remains unchanged.
- Updated documentation and examples to reflect new `omp auth-broker` command interface and in-process OAuth flow.
- Deleted the `packages/ai/src/utils/h2-fetch.ts` HTTP/2 retry wrapper and removed its public export from `packages/ai/src/index.ts`.
- Removed the `installH2Fetch` import and invocation from `packages/coding-agent/src/cli.ts`, so the CLI no longer patches `fetch` for HTTP/2 negotiation.
- Updated `packages/coding-agent/CHANGELOG.md` to align the vim-mode removal notes with the code changes.
- Added `checkCredentials()` with result types/options for per-credential tri-state health checks.
- Added `/v1/credentials/check` endpoint via `handleCredentialsCheck` returning `{ generatedAt, credentials }`.
- Added `omp auth-gateway check` flow with provider grouping, `--json` output, and exit status 1 on failures.
- Added command examples, changelog updates, and tests for expired OAuth refresh, null/missing config, and ordering edge cases.
- Added `dev.autoqa.consent` setting and single-flight popup handler wired through `InteractiveMode`.
- Added `flushGrievances` to batch-POST unpushed rows to `dev.autoqaPush.endpoint` with cooldown and single-flight deduplication.
- Added `omp grievances push` subcommand with TTY progress bar for manual draining.
- Migrated shared DB logic to `openAutoQaDb` (with `pushed` column migration) exported from `report-tool-issue`.
- Added `omp auth-gateway serve/token/status` — a forward-proxy injecting broker credentials for OpenAI Chat, Anthropic Messages, and OpenAI Responses wire formats.
- Added `GET /v1/usage` to auth-broker and auth-gateway; usage cache switched to 5-min per-credential TTL with jitter and last-good fallback on failure.
- Added `AuthStorage.setConfigApiKey/removeConfigApiKey/clearConfigApiKeys` so `models.yml` `apiKey` beats OAuth tokens without overriding `--api-key`.
- Added `omp auth-broker migrate --from-local` for idempotent upload of local SQLite/env credentials to the broker.
- Added `AuthBrokerClient`, `RemoteAuthCredentialStore`, `AuthBrokerRefresher`, and `startAuthBroker` server in `packages/ai/src/auth-broker`.
- Renamed `AuthCredentialStore` class to `SqliteAuthCredentialStore`; extracted `AuthCredentialStore` as a persistence interface.
- Added `exportSnapshot`, `forceRefreshCredentialById`, `disableCredentialById`, and `upsertCredential` to `AuthStorage` for broker wire protocol.
- Added `omp auth-broker` CLI subcommand (serve, token, login, logout, import, status) and `discoverAuthStorage` broker-mode path keyed on `OMP_AUTH_BROKER_URL`.
The agentic commit pipeline (`omp commit`) wrote its commit and then sat
spinning on Ctrl+C because nothing in `Commit.run()` drained the lingering
event-loop handles: `installH2Fetch()` keeps idle HTTP/2 sockets warm to
the provider, the Settings autosave timer can still be armed, and the
AgentSession's extension/runner machinery holds onto async-job and OAuth
refresh state even after `session.dispose()` releases what it knows how
to. Mirror the `runPrintMode` exit path from `main.ts` by calling
`postmortem.quit(0)` once `runCommitCommand` resolves so the CLI returns
to the shell, runs registered cleanup callbacks, then exits — same model
the non-interactive launch flow already uses.
Also widens the private bash-tool helpers' `notices` parameter to
`readonly string[]` so `bun check:types` keeps passing — the public outer
arm already accepted `readonly string[]` and an upstream commit had only
partially propagated the change.
Fixes#1041
- Adds omp acp subcommand that launches the agent as an ACP stdio server
- Registers the subcommand in the CLI dispatcher
- Threads terminal-auth args and ACP flags through the launch and main orchestrators
- Exports AgentSession on the public SDK surface
- Updates skills loader to support skill→slash-command conversion and prompt injection
- Updates input-controller to dispatch ACP built-in slash commands
Adds a new `rpc-ui` mode that extends the existing headless RPC mode with
interactive tool support (ask tool, extension UI dialogs, etc.).
In plain `rpc` mode the session has `hasUI=false` and no UI context is
wired, so interactive tools are disabled. `rpc-ui` mode sets `hasUI=true`
and wires a single shared `RpcExtensionUIContext` instance into both the
tool context store and the extension runner. Both consumers share the same
`pendingExtensionRequests` map and output closure, so `extension_ui_response`
messages received on stdin are routed to the correct waiting promise
regardless of which code path (tool or extension) created the request.
Changes:
- `args.ts`: add `rpc-ui` to the `Mode` union and the parse guard
- `launch.ts`: expose `rpc-ui` in the OCLIF flag definition and help text
- `main.ts`: propagate `rpc-ui` through all RPC-mode guard conditions and
pass `setToolUIContext` to `runRpcMode` when the mode is `rpc-ui`
- `rpc-mode.ts`: accept optional `setToolUIContext` callback; create one
shared `RpcExtensionUIContext` instance and pass it to both the tool
context store and the extension runner
- Replaced Python execution with a local `python -u runner.py` subprocess and NDJSON stdin/stdout framing.
- Removed shared-gateway architecture, including coordinator lifecycle APIs, `useSharedGateway` wiring, and `jupyter` CLI/actions.
- Simplified setup checks to a plain Python 3 availability probe and removed automatic dependency-install fallbacks.
- Updated kernel cancellation and display processing to use status frames, SIGINT/SIGTERM escalation, and normalized output coercion.
- Added `python-runner` integration and display tests while deleting legacy websocket and kernel lifecycle test suites.
- Removed the read CLI argument and tool schema field so read requests no longer accept custom timeouts.
- Updated URL read handling to stop forwarding timeout values and execute URL reads without a timeout parameter.
- Standardized URL read fetching to a fixed 30-second timeout and dropped timeout metadata from URL call rendering.
- Registered a new `read` command in the CLI command registry so `omp read` can be invoked.
- Implemented `runReadCommand` to execute the read tool, wrap it with meta notices, and print text or image-result blocks.
- Added a `read` command class with required path input, optional timeout flag, and usage examples.
- Added a `list`/`clean` positional action and examples to the grievances command, along with new `--id`, `--tool`, and `--all` flags for cleaning.
- Implemented `cleanGrievances` to delete grievances by id, tool, or all entries, enforce mutually exclusive selectors, and emit JSON counts when requested.
- Updated grievance DB access to use writable handles for clean operations and reset autoincrement sequence when removing all rows.
- Removed `pi-natives` chunk language classifier modules and all core chunk subsystems (kind, state, render, edit, resolve).
- Removed chunk-mode CLI/read/edit entrypoints, including `read` command and chunk mode registration/prompt tooling.
- Removed chunk selectors from `read` and `grep` tools, switching behavior to raw/L-range handling.
- Fixed poll wait parsing to keep defaulting to `30s` when the provided value is empty.
- Added Auto QA tool (`report_tool_issue`) for automated tracking of unexpected tool behavior with environment variable and setting support.
- Added Python tool environment warmup on first execution to ensure prelude helpers are available before use.
- Fixed Python prelude introspection to respect execution timeout and signal options, preventing hangs.
- Refactored prelude documentation caching and loading logic into reusable helper functions with test environment awareness.
- Enhanced kernel introspection with optional timeout and signal parameters for better execution control.
- Added system prompt guidance to encourage agents to report tool issues via Auto QA when available.
- Migrated native bindings from TypeScript wrappers to NAPI-RS generated modules with auto-generated type definitions and runtime enums.
- Replaced chunk tree API with stateful ChunkState class supporting render, edit, and resolve operations with improved error handling.
- Converted callback signatures to error-first pattern (error, result) for shell, PTY, glob, and grep operations.
- Introduced type-safe enums for MacOSAppearance, GrepOutputMode, KeyEventType, ImageFormat, and AstMatchStrictness replacing string literals.
- Refactored chunk tree implementation with dedicated modules for edit, indent, resolve, and state management with comprehensive validation.
- Moved clipboard utilities from native bindings to coding-agent package with improved OSC 52 and Termux compatibility.
omp plugin ... --scope project was rejected by the strict CLI parser
before reaching any handler, making the feature inaccessible via the
omp plugin entrypoint. Declaring scope in static flags and forwarding
it to PluginCommandArgs.flags lets the CLI framework accept and route it.
* feat(utils): full XDG Base Directory support for all path helpers
Implement XDG-first resolution across all omp path helpers, extend the
migration command to cover every data/state/cache location, and fix
five data-safety issues found in review.
dirs.ts:
- Add getXdgCachePath() helper ($XDG_CACHE_HOME/omp/<subpath>)
- Add isDefaultAgentDir() helper: XDG lookup is only valid when the
resolved agentDir equals the process default (~/.omp/agent); custom
profiles set via PI_CODING_AGENT_DIR or setAgentDir() are never
silently redirected to the global XDG database
- Update 15 functions to XDG-first resolution:
data: getPluginsDir, getRemoteDir, getRemoteHostDir, getPythonEnvDir,
getWorktreeBaseDir
state: getReportsDir, getSshControlDir, getCrashLogPath, getDebugLogPath
cache: getPuppeteerDir, getGpuCachePath, getNativesDir
- Guard XDG lookup with isDefaultAgentDir(agentDir ?? getAgentDir()) in
all 9 agent-subdir helpers so that callers passing the global default
agentDir still resolve to the migrated XDG location, while callers
passing a non-default agentDir or running under a custom profile via
setAgentDir() bypass XDG entirely
- Plugin-derived helpers delegate to getPluginsDir() and follow XDG
resolution automatically
migrate-xdg.ts:
- Add getXdgCacheHome() helper
- Extend MigrationItem.category to include 'cache'
- Add 12 new migration entries: reports, plugins, remote, ssh-control,
remote-host, python-env, puppeteer, wt, gpu_cache.json, natives,
omp-crash.log, omp-debug.log
- Refuse to run when PI_CODING_AGENT_DIR points to a non-default
profile: migration only makes sense for the default ~/.omp/agent tree
- copyDirectory returns skipped source paths (target existed, non-force)
- verifyIntegrity: remove size-mismatch early-return that masked stale
targets as successful copies
- executeMigration: delete only entries that were actually copied;
use rmdir on source dir so it is removed only when empty, preserving
any skipped files for a subsequent --force run
- executeMigration: rename partial target to <target>.bak on integrity
failure instead of deleting; preserves pre-existing user data while
preventing getXdgDataPath from treating the partial tree as
authoritative; source remains intact for re-copy on next run
test isolation:
- Set XDG_DATA_HOME/XDG_STATE_HOME to non-existent paths in
memories-runtime.test.ts beforeEach/afterEach to prevent
getXdgDataPath/getXdgStatePath from resolving to real user data
* fix(utils,coding-agent): fix XDG support issues
dirs.ts:
- Refactor path resolution into DirResolver class. XDG base dirs are
resolved once at construction from env vars (Linux only, no
existsSync). setAgentDir creates a fresh instance, naturally
invalidating all cached paths and recomputing isDefaultProfile.
- getRootSubdir/agentSubdir accept optional XdgCategory parameter;
when set, the XDG base replaces the config root. Every accessor
is a one-liner delegate.
- Non-Linux platforms: XDG fields are null, zero overhead. No
filesystem probing, no string comparisons on the hot path.
- Config-only subdirs (themes, tools, commands, prompts, modules)
have no XDG category — they stay under the config root.
- Remove `import { env } from 'bun'`, use process.env consistently.
- Restore JSDoc comments to document actual defaults (~/.omp/...).
migrate-xdg.ts:
- Gate migrateToXdg on Linux — exits with clear error on other
platforms.
- Fix data loss bug: verifyIntegrity now accepts a Set of skipped
paths and skips verification for files that were intentionally not
copied (pre-existing at target in non-force mode).
- Fix nested directory source deletion: recursive removeSourceEntries
walks the tree and only deletes files not in the skipped set.
- Remove dead _sourcePath variable and unused force parameter from
verifyIntegrity.
- Remove `import { env } from 'bun'`, use process.env consistently.
logger.ts:
- Revert JSDoc to document ~/.omp/logs/ as default.
oauth.ts:
- Replace direct getAgentSubdir call with getTestAuthPath().
CHANGELOG.md:
- Merge duplicate section headers under [Unreleased].
- Add missing blank line before [13.11.1].
