- Implemented a structured web-search query parsing module supporting directives, tokenization, date parsing, and syntax serialization.
- Updated search providers to map query directives and date bounds to native provider parameters and filters.
- Added lenient result constraint post-filtering and configuration settings for enhanced engine routing.
- Added comprehensive unit and integration tests covering query parsing, constraint filtering, and provider-specific request mapping.
Migrate 203 test files (356 call sites) from fs.rm/fs.rmSync to
removeWithRetries/removeSyncWithRetries to reduce EBUSY test failures
on Windows. removeWithRetries is now exported from @oh-my-pi/pi-utils.
The migration uses a regex-based approach that:
- Replaces fs.rm(path, { recursive, force }) → removeWithRetries(path)
- Replaces fs.rmSync(path, { recursive, force }) → removeSyncWithRetries(path)
- Replaces fs.rm(path) → removeWithRetries(path) (no options)
- Skips fs.rm/fs.rmSync inside template literals (bun --eval scripts)
- Adds imports to existing @oh-my-pi/pi-utils import or creates new one
- Removes unused fs imports where fs.rm was the only fs usage (4 files)
Raced queued Exa throttle waits against the caller abort signal so requests cancelled behind an earlier throttle wait reject immediately without breaking the serialized throttle chain.
Added regression coverage for cancelling a third Exa request queued behind another delayed request.
Fixes#3271
Made Exa request pacing observe cancellation during the configured delay instead of waiting for the full delay before checking the signal.
Added regression coverage for a queued Exa request cancelled while throttled.
Fixes#3271
Added configurable Exa search request pacing via exa.searchDelayMs so repeated web_search calls no longer burst directly into Exa rate limits.
Covered the provider contract with a focused Exa test and recorded the back-to-back request repro.
Fixes#3271
- Added optional FetchImpl fields to compaction, proxy, AI, coding-agent, and mnemopi options.
- Threaded injected fetch implementations through OAuth, discovery, and search/LLM request flows.
- Removed exported hookFetch utility and its package entrypoint from utils.
- Replaced global-fetch test monkeypatching with per-test FetchImpl mocks across test suites.
Reviewer noted that an unconditional ExaProvider.isAvailable steered the auto chain into the public MCP fallback before any later-configured provider could run. Restored the credential-gated isAvailable, then split out isExplicitlyAvailable so resolveProviderChain still routes an explicit Exa selection through MCP without affecting other providers.\n\nRefs #1860
Restored Exa's unauthenticated MCP fallback when neither auth storage nor EXA_API_KEY provides credentials. Preserved API-key search ordering and bounded the MCP request with the web-search hard timeout. Updated provider copy and regression coverage for the no-key path.\n\nFixes #1860
ExaProvider.isAvailable() and searchExa() now consult AuthStorage so Exa credentials configured through the broker/credential store work alongside EXA_API_KEY, matching the other API-key search providers.
Refs #1695
Adds a shared classifyProviderHttpError helper that maps the well-known
failure shapes (status 401/402/403 and bodies matching credits / quota
/ insufficient) into compact SearchProviderError messages so the
orchestrator advances to the next provider instead of bailing.
Wired into every HTTP-talking provider (codex, exa, gemini, anthropic,
brave, jina, kimi, perplexity, searxng, synthetic, tavily, zai) and the
two wrapped-error providers (kagi via KagiApiError, parallel via
ParallelApiError). The orchestrator now collects per-provider failures
and emits a joined summary ("exa: 403 forbidden; codex: credits
exhausted; ...") when the whole chain fails.
Test updates: web-search-{exa,tavily,kagi} message expectations now
assert the compact "<id>: <status> <reason>" form.
- Replaced vi.spyOn fetch mocking pattern with hookFetch utility across 5 test files.
- Migrated fetch mocks to use resource management with 'using' keyword for automatic cleanup.
- Removed @ts-expect-error comments related to fetch.preconnect type issues.
- Updated ts-hook-fetch rule documentation with expanded patterns and clearer lifecycle guidance.
Request contents.summary from Exa /search API and combine up to
3 non-empty summaries into SearchResponse.answer, replacing the
previous 'No answer text returned' output.
Changes:
- Add contents.summary to every Exa search request body
- Add summary field to ExaSearchResult interface
- Export synthesizeAnswer() to build combined answer from summaries
- Export buildExaRequestBody() for testability
- Export normalizeSearchType() (was private)
- Prefer summary over text/highlights for snippet field (falsy check)
- Only synthesize answer from results that have a URL (mirrors sources filter)
Tests: 37 new tests covering normalizeSearchType, buildExaRequestBody,
synthesizeAnswer (pure unit tests) and searchExa (mocked fetch)
