can1357 cde9ee7501 fix(tui): repainted write first partial result over pending tail preview
The first-result viewport-repaint gate assumed only streamed
__partialJson placeholder shapes (SSH) could re-anchor; the write
renderer's collapsed pending preview paints a tail window from decoded
content, so its first partial result re-anchored to the top of the file
and left the committed tail rows stale above the new frame.

Resolve forceFirstResultViewportRepaint per renderer as a boolean or an
(args, options) predicate evaluated at paint time: write opts in when a
collapsed preview outgrew the streaming tail window, SSH stays scoped to
the streamed-placeholder shape it always covered.

Adopted from PR #4478 (roboomp) with an allocation-free line-count scan
and terminal-buffer regression coverage.

roboomp 2024821d67 fix(ssh): pinned expanded pending preview commit-unstable
The SSH renderer previously declared 'provisionalPendingPreview: "collapsed"',
which only opted the COLLAPSED pending shape out of the transcript's
stable-prefix ratchet. Once the user expanded an in-flight SSH preview (ctrl+o)
and the framed block outgrew the viewport, the pending rows became
ratchet-eligible and committed to native scrollback before the result render
inserted the 'Output' section. The settled render then re-anchored the frame,
producing two distinct stranded shapes in history:

- a stale 'pending SSH: [host]' header pinned above the final '<- SSH: [host]'
  frame (header variant), and
- the pending bottom border row reused in-place as the new 'Output' separator,
with a fresh '...' footer pushed below it (footer variant).

Flip 'provisionalPendingPreview' to 'true' so every pending shape — collapsed
or expanded — is treated as provisional and stays out of native scrollback
until the result render commits a settled frame. The 'collapsed'-only opt-out
remains correct for renderers (bash, eval) whose expanded pending preview is
top-anchored and survives the result render without re-anchoring.

Added two contract tests asserting expanded pending SSH is commit-unstable
and that bash/eval expanded pending preview is still commit-stable — keeping
the opt-in renderer-scoped.

roboomp 3faeddd3a6 fix(tui): kept ssh partial result commit-unstable
Reviewer flagged that ToolExecutionComponent.isTranscriptBlockCommitStable\ntreated any block with a defined #result as commit-stable, so a long\nstreaming SSH partial render could sit on its stable pending header until\nderiveLiveCommitState's stable-prefix ratchet promoted it to native\nscrollback, then the final SSH glyph render would land below and strand a\nduplicate pending header above the settled frame.\n\n- Added ToolRenderer.provisionalPartialResult opt-in for renderers whose\n partial-result chrome differs from the final render.\n- Honored it in ToolExecutionComponent.isTranscriptBlockCommitStable so the\n block stays commit-unstable while isPartial holds and flips stable as soon\n as the result settles.\n- Set provisionalPartialResult: true on the SSH renderer.\n- Added test/tools/ssh-commit-stability.test.ts covering the partial/final\n transition and the non-regression for bash.\n\nFixes #3177

can1357 afa3439485 fix(coding-agent): classified provisional pending tool previews per renderer
- Added `ToolRenderer.provisionalPendingPreview` in `renderers.ts` and consulted it from `ToolExecutionComponent.isTranscriptBlockCommitStable`, replacing the 15.11.6 blanket gate that marked every collapsed pending preview commit-unstable.
- Marked only the tail-window previews the result render re-anchors as provisional: the edit streamed-diff tail (`edit/renderer.ts`), bash/ssh command caps (`createShellRenderer`, `sshToolRenderer`), and eval cells with interleaved outputs (`evalToolRenderer`).
- Restored mid-stream scrollback commits for every other pending preview, so tool calls taller than the viewport (e.g. a task call's context/assignment markdown) no longer read as cut off until the result lands.
- Added a regression test in `tool-live-region-scrollback.test.ts` scroll-appending a tall collapsed streaming task call into native scrollback mid-stream.

can1357 8fd5171768 ux(coding-agent): capped collapsed bash, ssh, and eval previews to a viewport tail window
- Replaced the fixed `CALL_PREVIEW_MAX_LINES` cap in `render-utils.ts` with a dynamic `previewWindowRows()` (terminal rows minus a chrome reserve); `capPreviewLines` now returns lines untouched when expanded and windows them otherwise.
- Applied the cap in every render state for bash and ssh command previews — streaming and final render identically instead of snapping fully open on completion — and included the preview window in bash's render cache key so terminal resizes invalidate it.
- Capped eval cell code previews via the same window; previously cell code was never capped at all, with `ctrl+o` remaining the only way to uncap.
- Added stream-vs-final parity coverage in `bash-sixel-render.test.ts`, `ssh-render.test.ts`, and the new `eval-code-preview.test.ts`, and a changelog entry.

roboomp 7a1280784e fix(tools/ssh): rendered multiline remote commands in a framed body block
The SSH tool renderer fed the raw command into renderStatusLine's
description, so any newline in the remote command expanded the
single-line tool header — the bordered output block then opened
mid-command and the rest of the SSH cell rendered against a broken
frame.

The renderer now keeps only [host] in the header and renders the
full command (with a dim $ prefix and tab sanitization) as its own
framed section above Output, matching the bash renderer's shape.

renderStatusLine also flattens CR/LF in title, description, meta,
and badge labels so no future caller can accidentally produce a
multiline tool header.

Covered by:
- test/tools/ssh-render.test.ts: multiline command stays out of
the header and every command line is present in the body, for
  both renderCall and renderResult.
- test/tui/status-line-newline-guard.test.ts: embedded LF, CRLF,
and lone CR in description/meta are flattened to spaces.

can1357andCan Bölük 66d954ed7a feat(coding-agent): redact secret-shaped values in tool output
Adds a focused redaction utility that targets well-known token shapes
(AWS, GitHub PATs/tokens, Slack, OpenAI-style sk-, JWT) plus a
key/value heuristic for env-style lines whose key contains SECRET /
TOKEN / PASSWORD / API_KEY / PRIVATE_KEY, plus Bearer/Basic Authorization
header values. Replacements are tagged `#REDACTED:<hint>#` so callers
can tell why each value was scrubbed.

Wired into read, search and ssh tool outputs. Each call site appends a
`[redacted N secret-like values]` footer when at least one value was
scrubbed so the model knows the output was modified.

Gated behind a new `tools.redactSecrets` boolean setting (default true).
Sandboxed tests that intentionally surface secret-shaped fixtures can
disable it via Settings.isolated({ "tools.redactSecrets": false }).

Miroslav Drbalandcan1357 416c5494fd Compress system prompt and tool descriptions for token efficiency
Reduces per-turn token cost of prompt and tool metadata by ~2,160
tokens (~8.6 KB across 12 prompt files) without losing instructional
signal. Moves literal default values from description text into
TypeBox's native `default:` keyword, and updates the strict-mode
sanitizer to preserve default info for providers that strip the
keyword.

Prompt compression

|File |before |after |delta |

|prompts/tools/hashline.md | 4,280 | 4,135 |−3% |

Changes are textual compression only — grammar-scaffolding removed,
redundant bullets stripped, repeated facts consolidated. All
behavioral contracts, safety rules, worked examples, and
tool-precedence directives are preserved. The system prompt retains
RFC 2119 invocation, XML tag semantics, adversarial-caller guidance,
persistence doctrine, unit-of-change and no-forwarding-addresses
rules, completeness contract, DRY-at-2, earn-every-line, trust-
internal-code, tool precedence, AST tool priority, pattern-syntax
cheatsheet (via ast-grep.md/ast-edit.md), tool persistence,
outside-in code integrity, default follow-through, and procedural
steps 1-7. AST tool docs retain the class-wrapper +
method_definition sel example (the most error-prone usage pattern).
bash.md critical section retains MUST-weight on the ast_grep /
ast_edit directives.

Schema: defaults as first-class metadata

Moved 18 literal default values from `(default: X)` description
text into TypeBox's native `default:` keyword across:
ast-edit.ts, ast-grep.ts, bash.ts, browser.ts, find.ts, gh.ts,
grep.ts, python.ts, read.ts, ssh.ts. Runtime-resolved placeholders
(cwd, pr-<number>) remain as text since they cannot be literal
TypeBox defaults.

Added:
- `minItems: 1` on ast-edit.ts `ops` array — machine-enforces what
the .md previously stated only in prose; handler already rejects
empty ops arrays, this adds the schema-level constraint.
- `find.ts` `pattern` description enriched with facts previously
only in find.md (comma-separated lists, simple patterns recurse
  from cwd).

Strict-mode sanitizer: inline `default` into `description`

OpenAI's Structured Outputs strict mode rejects schemas containing
`default` with HTTP 422 ("default is not permitted"). Affects
openai, azure, github-copilot, openrouter, cerebras, together,
zenmux, and deepseek providers.

`sanitizeSchemaForStrictMode` in packages/ai/src/utils/schema/
strict-mode.ts now appends ` (default: X)` to the sibling
`description` before stripping the `default` keyword. Non-strict
providers (Anthropic, Google) still see the native keyword.

Rules:
- Inline is skipped when description already contains `(default:`
  (prevents double-inlining on recursive calls)
- Inline is skipped when no sibling description exists (no
  synthesis)
- Formatting: strings as-is (`cwd`), other values via
`JSON.stringify` (matches the conventional text form)

CONSTRAINTS.md documents the inlining rule alongside the existing
keyword-strip rule.

Regression tests

packages/ai/test/schema-strict-mode.test.ts gains 7 `it` blocks:
- number/bool/string default types inline correctly
- falsy defaults (`false`, `""`, `0`) are not confused with absent
- `null` default goes through JSON.stringify branch
- double-inline prevention when description already says `(default:`
- no synthesis when no description exists
- nested object property with default (recursion + cache path)
- type-array `[T, null]` branch with default on outer schema
  (variant-materialization path)

23/23 schema tests pass, 541/541 ai-package tests pass,
`bun check` clean.

can1357 09225bc491 feat: refactored text truncation API to use string type and hardcoded ellipsis
- Changed TextInput type parameter to string in truncateToWidth(), visibleWidth(), sliceWithWidth(), and extractSegments() functions in native bindings.
- Removed TextInput type export from public API of pi-natives package.
- Removed format.ellipsis symbol from theme configuration, replacing all theme-based ellipsis references with hardcoded Unicode ellipsis character (...).
- Removed ellipsis property from SymbolTheme interface in pi-tui package.
- Removed truncateToWidth, sliceWithWidth, and extractSegments wrapper functions from pi-tui public API, now re-exporting directly from pi-natives.
- Added early return optimizations in truncateToWidth() and sliceWithWidth() native functions to skip native calls when possible.
