- Capped nested subagent trees at the per-level limit to prevent unbounded progress rendering in deep sessions.
- Added elision indicators for collapsed nested subagent rows, prioritizing failed tasks during selection.
- Removed the partial-result spinner repaint loop to reduce CPU usage during high-frequency progress streaming.
- Reverted to flushing only on the last file write or explicitly on early failure paths within `apply_patch` multi-file operations.
- Refactored error counting logic within single path entries to use clean booleans instead of numeric counters.
- Replaced custom preview capping logic in task progress rendering with `capPreviewLines` and added an option to hide the expand hint.
Reused output notice stripping for task live progress and rendered recent subagent output through the viewport-sized preview budget.
Added regression coverage for fixed six-line capping and raw bash footer leakage.
Fixes#4162
Five hot-path performance fixes + two low-risk allocation reductions.
No behavior change; all derived counts/orderings are identical.
- session-manager pathTo: leaf->root walk used branch.unshift() per node
(O(n^2) over branch length); now push + single reverse. Backs
getBranch(), hit at ~17 sites per turn.
- edit/modes/patch: collapseConsecutiveSharedLines / collapseRepeatedBlocks
/ trimCommonContext built shared-line sets via
new Set(oldLines.filter(l => newLines.includes(l))) -> O(old*new) per
hunk. Precompute new Set(newLines) and use .has() -> O(old+new).
- task/executor appendRecentOutputTail: re-split + filter + slice + reverse
of the full (up to 8KB) recentOutputTail on every text_delta token. Fast
path extends the current last line in place; full recompute only when a
newline boundary or truncation changes the window. tailLastLineRepresentable
flag guards the trailing-whitespace-only-line edge case.
- task/render renderResult: header booleans (3x .some) + footer counts
(3x .filter) + request total (.reduce) re-scanned details.results ~30x/sec
via the spinner. Single pass derives aborted/failed/mergeFailed/success
counts + requestTotal; booleans derived from counts.
- task/render extractIncrementalReviewResult: re-called normalizeYieldData
internally though both callers had already normalized the same yield data.
Signature now takes pre-normalized RenderYieldItem[].
Honorable mentions (allocation reduction, no algorithmic change):
- config/model-resolver: hoist case-folded pattern out of matchModel filter
passes; build the O(n) preference context once per role in
resolveModelRoleValue and reuse across fallback patterns.
- tools/read countTextLines: count newlines directly instead of allocating
via split("\n"); hashline formatter reuses the line count instead of
recomputing.
- Added missing `noteDisplayableThinkingContent` mock function to test fixtures.
- Included `markActivityStart` and `markActivityEnd` methods in status line mocks to match updated controller interfaces.
- Added logic to `assembleYieldResult` to automatically accumulate incremental yields into arrays for schema-identified array properties.
- Updated `YieldTool` to bypass schema validation for incremental stream yields, allowing partial data emissions that don't satisfy the full output schema yet.
- Enhanced `YieldTool` parameter declaration to remove blocking top-level JSON schema combinators, ensuring compatibility with strict-mode providers (OpenAI/Codex).
- Updated `parseYieldType` to gracefully handle `null` type values emitted by strict providers for untyped final yields.
- Added regression tests for array-valued findings alignment and strict-mode tool schema compatibility.
- Introduced V2 streaming remote compaction for OpenAI-compatible models, enabling full conversation history forwarding and reducing data loss from local trimming.
- Added comprehensive support for sessionId, promptCacheKey, and automatic retry mechanisms to improve compaction reliability and accuracy.
- Updated agent, catalog, and configuration schemas to manage V2 streaming settings, model metadata, and model-specific context window constraints.
- Extended freeform tool patch support for Azure OpenAI and Codex models and refined assistant-side history preservation across providers.
- Extracted taskToolRenderer to a dedicated renderer file to resolve circular dependencies.
- Updated all references to the renderer to point to the new location.
- Extended `tools/yield.ts` with typed incremental sections, raw last-turn terminal results, and updated yield guidance in the subagent system prompts.
- Reworked `task/executor.ts`, `task/render.ts`, and `task/types.ts` to assemble typed yield sections, render reviewer results from incremental yield data, and preserve the typed result shape.
- Switched `prompts/agents/reviewer.md`, `review-request.md`, and `review-custom-request.md` from `report_finding` calls to incremental `yield` sections.
- Added incremental-yield coverage in `test/task/executor-warnings.test.ts`, `test/task/render-yield-shape.test.ts`, `test/tools/yield-extraction.test.ts`, and `test/tools/yield.test.ts`.
- Added `rewrite-changelog.ts` and `fix-changelogs.ts` utilities to automate the consolidation of release notes using LLM-assisted processing.
- Updated multiple internal changelog files by consolidating redundant entries and improving phrasing for readability.
- Implemented `previewLine` utility in `coding-agent` to prevent visual spillover in status rows by managing text truncation and whitespace.
- Updated `package.json` with new workflow scripts for managing package-level change histories and documentation indexes.
- Updated task rendering to use `previewLine` for truncating descriptions consistently.
- Ensured progress and result descriptions are truncated before formatting.
- Added cycle and depth guards for nested task progress rendering so async fan-out snapshots cannot recurse until the TUI crashes.
- Shortened long Windows '/data/workspaces/can1357__oh-my-pi__2551/.omp-session/2026-06-14T07-09-37-753Z_019ec4f6-ee59-7000-8226-e1b7ed0680e9/local' roots into temp-backed session roots before plan/handoff writes hit MAX_PATH.
Fixes#2551
- Changed collapsed progress rendering to keep the most recent live agents visible, adding a summary line for folded-away rows.
- Updated collapsed result rendering to preserve failed and aborted agents in the visible set while trimming other completions.
- Refreshed job polling text to document waiting on all running jobs when `poll` is omitted and added tests for both collapsed progress and result display behavior.
- Added an anchored Subagents HUD renderer that formats active subagent sessions as `Id: description` rows.
- Integrated a new interactive-mode container and observer-driven render path so the HUD updates with session events and clears when no subagents are active.
- Exported `formatTaskId` for shared HUD formatting and added tests covering active-only filtering, fallback task/progress text, and line truncation.
- Updated task call and result headers to use the dispatch glyph during running async calls instead of spinner-style states.
- Switched running and pending agent rows to a static done-dot marker and reused the dot with foreground color settling when rows complete.
- Updated task rendering tests to validate the new glyphs and ensure running/pending rows do not emit spinner or pending symbols.
- Detached async task progress rows stopped running a redraw driver and task progress rendering switched running/pending rows to static task-icon text.
- Background task snapshots were frozen once blocks left the transcript live region, preventing later partial snapshots from repainting commit-eligible rows.
- Updated task-progress and detached-background-task tests to validate static task rows and the new freeze behavior.
Reorders sections in the streaming call preview to match `renderResult` and the
schema's field order. This prevents visual jumps when the preview transitions
to a result and ensures append-only growth of streamed content.
Additionally, omits the agent-list divider when no agent rows are present.
- Replaced task-simple-mode with a `task.batch` setting enabled by default.
- Updated task schema to use batch `{agent, context, tasks[]}` payloads.
- Migrated task execution to spawn one async job per task and merge outputs.
- Removed per-call schema passing while preserving legacy flat task calls.
- Removed `resume` from task params and schema, requiring agent and assignment inputs.
- Dropped resume continuation paths in task execution and call rendering, always spawning a new agent.
- Removed the `irc.enabled` setting and computed IRC availability by task-depth rules.
- Updated task follow-up guidance to use IRC messaging/history links instead of `task(resume:)`.
The task tool now takes a single { agent, assignment, description, ... } and always runs the subagent in the background — the batch tasks[] array and shared context parameter are gone. Fan-out is parallel task calls; shared background flows through a '/Users/can/.omp/agent/sessions/-Projects-.tree-pi-commit/2026-06-10T15-36-32-782Z_019eb22d-970e-7000-8964-72c98becf3e8/local' file referenced in each assignment.\n\nIntroduces a persistent subagent lifecycle: finished subagents stay live as idle, the lifecycle manager parks them to disk after task.agentIdleTtlMs (default 7 minutes; 0 keeps them live until exit), and they revive automatically when prompted from the Agent Hub, messaged on IRC, or resumed via task. New task(resume: "<id>") revives an idle or parked subagent and runs a follow-up assignment in its existing session.\n\nAdds soft request budgets (explore/quick_task 40, others 90, configurable via task.softRequestBudget, 0 disables): crossing the budget injects a one-time wrap-up steer into the child; crossing 1.5× aborts the run gracefully. Cancelled/aborted subagent salvage replaces the old (no output) with the child's last activity snippet plus request/token stats; SingleResult tracks a per-child requests counter (assistant message_end events) used to sort agent lists in runtime-ascending order in both the live progress view (finished agents above pending/running) and the finalized result view, so rows no longer reshuffle on finalize. Adds a task gallery fixture variant for the resume path (renderer key separated from fixture key).\n\nAll task tests are reshaped around the single-call contract; tests for the discarded shared-context flow are removed, and new task-guards/task-resume/task-schema tests pin the new contract surface.
- Added a stable progress-ordering helper that moved pending and running agents below completed and failed ones.
- Applied this ordering to top-level and nested live task-progress rendering so finished entries render first.
- Added a renderer test and changelog note covering the finished-before-unfinished progress ordering.
- Updated `renderResult` to inspect `isError` on detail-less task results and render an error state with the error glyph.
- Replaced success/completed status symbols in agent, review, and result outputs with the shared `status.done` symbol.
- Added tests for detail-less task rendering to verify failed results show error and successful results show the done glyph.
- Added status.done and tool.* symbols to theme mappings and presets.
- Replaced generic success glyphs with contextual +/-, tool icons, and warnings.
- Mapped tool/task/job completions to status.done or status.enabled with icon overrides.
- Triggered runtime provider refresh after extension registration and warned on failure.
- Reworked running-task rendering so shimmer animation is applied to descriptions instead of IDs.
- Added accent coloring for the separator and description text to keep the status line formatting consistent.
- Reduced shimmer-driven UI animations and borders to a 30fps cadence.
- Collapsed consecutive read tool calls into one finalized transcript block.
- Tracked visible assistant content to finalize and reset read groups correctly.
- Updated running task rows to static bullet markers with shimmer-only subagent labels.
- Updated task call and result rendering to process shared context with the Markdown renderer, so context sections are now displayed with proper Markdown formatting.
- Stopped shimmer animation on pending bash/eval/task blocks once async state is `running`, preventing the committed frame from freezing a transient dark border segment.
- Adjusted rule path display to fall back to a root-relative path when cwd-relative resolution is unavailable.
- Extended `OutputBlock` section metadata with an optional `separator` flag and included it in cache hashing.
- Updated output block rendering to emit an unlabeled section divider when the separator flag is enabled.
- Marked task and result render paths to request separators for non-context content sections to improve output clarity.
- Rendered shared `# Goal`/`# Constraints` brief in result frame via buildContextSection helper.
- Undid per-field double-encoding so brief reads cleanly from raw result args.
- Removed header spinner since per-agent body lines already animate.
- Wrapped run summary in bracket glyphs to match bash tool footer.
- Enabled call/result merging by setting mergeCallAndResult on TaskTool.
- Reworked task item lines into bullet lists and removed tree-style prefixes.
- Rendered task calls as framed blocks with isolated headers and pending status metadata.
- Changed result previews to hide task titles and `Tasks` headings when a result is present.
renderAgentResult and the live-progress sibling cast
extractedToolData?.yield to Array<{ data }> and called ?.map without
checking the actual runtime shape. Optional chaining only short-circuits
on null/undefined, so any stray non-array value (a single yield object
landing in the slot) made .map undefined and threw
TypeError: completeData?.map is not a function — taking down every
`review` task render.
Both sites now route through a new normalizeYieldData helper (next to
normalizeReportFindings) that returns an array of yield records: it
preserves arrays unchanged, wraps a single object as a 1-element array
so the verdict still renders, and drops primitives. Added a regression
test exercising the result branch, the progress branch, the primitive
fall-through, and the canonical array shape — all of the failing-branch
ones reproduce the crash on the pre-fix renderer.
Fixes#1987
- Changed `AgentOutputManager` to use requested names verbatim, adding `-2`/`-3` suffixes only on repeats (e.g. `Anna`, `Anna-2`).
- Renamed main agent id from `0-Main` to `Main`; nested ids now use dot notation without numeric prefix (e.g. `Parent.Child`).
- Updated task widget to render dotted hierarchy as `Parent>Child` breadcrumb without leading index.
- Resume scan now tracks seen names instead of a counter to avoid clobbering prior outputs.
- Propagated task `renderContext` through `ToolExecutionComponent` so call rendering can detect result state.
- Suppressed task call-preview rows when a result snapshot exists to avoid duplicate task lines.
- Added formatContextUsage to render context as `%/window` with `?` fallback across status and task views.
- Updated task renderCall to show dispatched agents as tree entries with `Tasks (2)` header and `#3` fallback.
- Capped task preview collapse at 12 entries and added `... N more agents` overflow messaging.
- Replaced hard-coded dot separators with `theme.sep.dot` in subagent cost and context output.
- Added tests for streaming task preview rendering and updated nested-live expectations for percent/context output.
- Removed "ctx" suffix and cumulative Σ-token display from status lines.
- Replaced "N tools" text with tool count + extensionTool icon.
- Changed cost separator to ` . ` to visually distinguish it from dim stats.
- Added test asserting new format and absence of old labels.
- Move settings.get("task.showResolvedModelBadge") out of appendAgentStats
and into its callers, passing the value as an explicit opts field.
This removes a hidden dependency on global state and makes the
function a pure formatter.
- Sanitize resolvedModel with replaceTabs() + truncateToWidth(30)
before rendering, consistent with the file's existing sanitization
patterns and AGENTS.md requirements.
- Captured `tool_execution_update` snapshots for `task` calls into in-flight progress state for live nested rendering.
- Cleared in-flight task snapshots at task start and completion to prevent stale nested progress from persisting.
- Updated progress rendering to combine completed and in-flight task details through a dedicated nested task tree view.
- Added `retry.maxDelayMs` to the settings schema and interfaces, with a default cap for provider backoff delays.
- Updated session auto-retry logic to fail fast when a requested wait exceeds the cap without fallback, emitting terminal auto-retry failure state.
- Propagated retry state and failure data into task progress and rendering so children show retry/wait details and reminder prompts stop after terminal errors.
Both empty-patch and whitespace-only-patch branches in the isolated-task
merge unconditionally appended "Applied patches: yes". The marker now
fires only when the combined patch is non-empty AND applyText succeeded.
No-op merges report "No changes to apply.". The renderer marker matcher
accepts the new string.
