- Refined dialog layout with stable height clamping and improved preview visibility logic.
- Simplified interaction flow by replacing the "Next" row with "Submit" tab confirmation.
- Enabled accessible option toggling using Enter and Space keys.
- Removed legacy chat integration and streamlined internal dialog state management.
Added an explicit timeout presentation capability so interactive queued dialogs defer the fallback while older UI implementations still get an immediate tool-owned timeout.
Refs #4995
Reset the ask tool fallback timeout whenever the interactive selector resets its UI countdown, preventing late keypresses from falling back to the original recommended option.
Refs #4995
Extensions calling ctx.ui.addAutocompleteProvider (e.g. @ff-labs/pi-fff)
crashed at load with 'TypeError: ... is not a function' because omp's
ExtensionAPI.ui omitted pi's autocomplete-provider API; the throw also
aborted the rest of a try/catch-guarded session_start init.
ExtensionUIContext now declares addAutocompleteProvider(factory).
Interactive mode stacks each factory on the built-in editor provider in
registration order, re-applies the stack on every slash-command refresh,
and skips throwing/malformed factories; RPC, ACP, and headless contexts
accept the factory as a no-op, matching upstream pi's RPC behavior.
Fixes#4919
Stopped new-session and session-switch UI paths from detaching active loader/render components without running their disposal hooks.
Added container and loader coverage for disposing children before destructive transcript/status replacement.
Fixes#4686
- Moved terminal title update logic to a single listener onSessionNameChanged.
- Removed redundant setSessionTerminalTitle calls from ExtensionUiController, InputController, and InteractiveMode.
- Ensured consistent side-effect execution for terminal titles and editor accents across all session name change triggers.
Scheduled a TUI repaint after extension-driven prompt mutations so pasteToEditor and setEditorText do not leave the editor visually stale until the next input event.
Fixes#4341
- Omit Next from the guest multi-select ui-request options until at least
one option is checked or a custom answer exists, mirroring the local
dialog's disabled-Next gating. The remote select has no disabled-row
concept, so Next is omitted rather than dimmed (PRRT_kwDOQxs0bc6OFbDW).
- Add the bottomBorder(1) term to the ask dialog's fixed-row budget so the
rendered dialog no longer overflows the viewport by one row
(PRRT_kwDOQxs0bc6OFbDY).
- Add focused tests: guest wire-level Next gating round trip, and dialog
height <= viewport assertion.
- Replace #requestGuestUiString's string|"unavailable"|undefined channel
with a tagged GuestUiResult ({answered}|{cancelled}|{unavailable}) so a
guest answer literally equal to "unavailable" no longer collides with
the transport-unavailable sentinel (PRRT_kwDOQxs0bc6OE3gN).
- Cap in-body question header rendering to MAX_HEADER_ROWS with ellipsis
truncation so long/multiline questions cannot push options off-screen
(PRRT_kwDOQxs0bc6OE3gS).
- Guest Other editor cancellation now continues the loop (multi) / re-shows
the select (single) instead of cancelling the whole ask
(PRRT_kwDOQxs0bc6OE3gU).
- Disable the Next row on a single-question multi-select until at least one
option or custom input is chosen, preventing empty-result submission
(PRRT_kwDOQxs0bc6OE3gY).

- Widen ExtensionAskDialogResult to a union with { kind: "chat" } variant
so AskTool can distinguish chat handoff from cancel (undefined).
- AskDialogComponent.#finishChat passes { kind: "chat" } via onChat.
- Controller settles { kind: "chat" } locally and propagates a "chat"
sentinel through the guest/collab path instead of returning undefined.
- AskTool returns a chat-redirect AgentToolResult (chatRedirect details)
instead of aborting with ToolAbortError.
- #promptForNote prefills with the existing note only when editing the
same row (noteRowKey === rowItem.key), preventing cross-row note leaks.
- Add ask-dialog and ask tool tests for chat redirect and row-specific
note prefill.
- Reset the inactivity countdown in handleInput after the closed/prompt
guard, matching HookSelector/HookInput semantics so a user actively
navigating options/tabs is not auto-submitted by an absolute deadline.
- Add boundPromptTitle helper that flattens whitespace, wraps to the
terminal content width, and caps at 3 rows with ellipsis truncation;
apply it to custom-input and note prompt titles in the rich dialog
and the guest-UI editor path so long/multi-line questions stay usable.
- Drop totalRows from both ScrollView calls so the full allLines array
is sliced via scrollOffset + row; previously totalRows caused render
to read lines[row] instead of lines[scrollOffset + row], leaving the
viewport stuck at the top while the scrollbar thumb moved.
- Add tests for inactivity reset, bounded prompt titles, and scrolling.

Op: correct
Adds the rich TUI ask dialog, additive schema fields, ask.enabled tool gating, note/preview/header support, chat redirect, and timeout behavior that defers while nested prompts are active instead of discarding user input.
Op: extend
Normalized extension custom-message payloads before session state or persistence, including bare string sendMessage shorthands. Skipped legacy bare custom_message entries during context rebuilds and dropped malformed custom/hook messages before LLM conversion. Added regression coverage for the poisoned-session resume crash.\n\nFixes #4345
- Introduced the `CollabGuestUiResult` type to distinguish between answers and unavailable states during guest UI requests.
- Updated the remote dialog race logic to ignore unavailable guest results and fallback to the local host dialog.
- Centralized the `FakeWebSocket` and `InMemoryRelay` test infrastructure into a shared test helpers file.
- Cleaned up duplicate mock implementations and updated existing test suites to utilize the shared in-memory relay helpers.
EventController.handleEvent rebuilt the editor's status-line top border
synchronously on every session event via updateEditorTopBorder(). During
a long-running eval that fires 5-10 events/s, each rebuild ran
StatusLine.getTopBorder → #buildSegmentContext → getCachedContextBreakdown
→ session.getContextUsage → estimateTokens (with JSON.stringify per
toolCall block) — the render pipeline is throttled to ~30 fps, so most
rebuilds were dropped before painting. Combined with a scheduler that
collapsed cadenceDelay to zero whenever a frame overran the 33ms budget,
the TUI busy-looped at ~40-50% CPU.
Fix:
- Editor gains setTopBorderProvider(): a lazy builder invoked once per
editor render. InteractiveMode installs it in the constructor and on
setEditorComponent, so the rebuild coalesces to the render tempo
regardless of event rate.
- Delete updateEditorTopBorder wrapper (now equivalent to
ui.requestRender) and inline every call site.
- Add adaptive render backpressure: a frame that exceeds
MIN_RENDER_INTERVAL_MS inflates the next scheduling delay to
2 * last_frame_cost, capped at 200 ms, targeting a 50% render duty
cycle instead of pinning the CPU at t=0.
New regression tests:
- editor-top-border-provider.test.ts: provider fires exactly once per
render, wins over eager setTopBorder, falls back when cleared, gets
the correct availableWidth.
- adaptive-render-backpressure.test.ts: cheap frames keep the 33 ms
cadence, a slow frame idles proportionally, pathological frames are
capped at 200 ms.
Verified with bun test packages/tui/test (all 246 relevant tests pass)
and bun test packages/coding-agent/test/modes (455 tests pass). Three
pre-existing agent-session-handoff snapcompact failures on main are
unrelated (snapcompactSupportedChars binding).
Fixes#4145
The time_spent segment rendered Date.now() - sessionStartTime, so an
idle session displayed hours of "time spent" while the agent did
nothing — the only inputs were wall-clock and the unmoving session
start.
Replace sessionStartTime with activeMs in SegmentContext and accumulate
inside StatusLineComponent across agent_start -> agent_end windows.
markActivityStart/markActivityEnd are idempotent (reentrant agent_start
events and superseded agent_end events never double-count); the segment
ticks live during an open window and freezes when the agent yields.
The session-boundary hook drops the now-meaningless wall-clock argument
and is renamed setSessionStartTime -> resetActiveTime; it zeroes the
accumulator and drops any in-flight window so /clear / fresh-session /
joined-collab paths start the meter at zero.
Fixes#3681
- Passed USER_INTERRUPT_LABEL through abort paths in collab, ACP, RPC, runtime, and SDK flows.
- Added userInitiated to synthetic continue inputs and session prompt calls.
- Suppressed advisor auto-resume during user aborts and preserved queued concerns.
- Cleared suppression on user prompts and reclaimed parked advisor cards on abort settle.
The session-observer overlay is gone. The Agent Hub (ctrl+s, alt+a, or double-tap left arrow on an empty editor) presents one overlay with two views: a live registry table (status, unread irc count, current task, last activity; j/k to navigate, r to revive, x to abort/release) and per-agent chat (transcript + input line) — submitting revives a parked agent and steers it via the normal prompt path. Main is the ambient chat and stays out of the table.\n\nrenderInitialMessages no longer takes a prebuilt context: every redraw now reaches for AgentSession.buildTranscriptSessionContext() (full-history transcript with each compaction emitted inline at the point it fired, snapcompact frames re-attached on rebuild). UiHelpers drops the deferred-compaction render and the IRC autoreply branch that the new mailbox bus deprecated. CompactionSummaryMessage renders as a slim divider (── 📷 compacted · ctrl+o ──), expanding to the summary + snapcompact frame count. session-manager.buildSessionContext gains a { transcript: true } mode; an exported buildSessionContextFromFile() reads a session file without taking the writer lock so the hub chat view can tail any agent (parked or live). Theme picks up icon.camera + tool.irc symbol entries.
- Serialized hook selector, input, and editor dialogs to prevent overlapping surfaces.
- Queued dialog requests FIFO and skipped requests aborted before they could be shown.
- Added a shared #presentDialog path for modal focus and hide lifecycle.
- Removed the built-in `background` (`bg`) slash command and its `handleBackgroundCommand` path from the interactive flow.
- Deleted background event subscription and shutdown handling by removing `handleBackgroundEvent` from the event, input, and interactive controllers.
- Simplified `InteractiveModeContext` by dropping background-only fields and helpers such as `isBackgrounded`, background UI context creation, and background event callbacks.
- Added ChatBlock and ChatBlockHost with mount, finish, and dispose lifecycle callbacks.
- Added InteractiveModeContext.present and resetTranscript APIs and used them to mount/repaint blocks.
- Reworked controller rendering paths to emit command, event, extension, and selector outputs via ctx.present.
- Implemented component and container dispose hooks in tui so loaders and child blocks cleanup timers/effects.
ExtensionUiController.#applyCustomMessageDisplay rebuilt the chat from the freshly-persisted session entry as soon as the extension's session_start handler fired sendMessage({display:true}). main.ts then called mode.renderInitialMessages(undefined, {preserveExistingChat:true}), which snapshotted the chat children, cleared, re-rendered from session entries (adding the same custom message again), and re-appended the snapshot — leaving the message visible twice.
Gate the rebuild on a new InteractiveModeContext.initialChatRendered flag that UiHelpers.renderInitialMessages flips on first run. Before the initial transcript render, applyCustomMessageDisplay skips: renderInitialMessages will pick up the new session entry once. After it, the rebuild runs as today, so post-init extension sends (tool_result, agent_end, …) still surface immediately.
Fixes#1955
- Added `selectionMarker`, `checkedIndices`, and `markableCount` options to render radio/checkbox glyphs per row.
- Moved checkbox rendering from inline label prefixes into the selector component.
- Kept trailing control rows like "Other"/"Done" on the plain cursor.
- Added role-model cycle data structures and helper methods to resolve and persist selected model states.
- Added a plan-review model-tier slider from role model cycles, with arrow navigation and slider help text.
- Applied selected role model and explicit thinking level before plan approval, carrying over to fresh and compacted sessions.
- Added hook-selector slider rendering and movement handling with index clamping, plus tests and changelog coverage.
- Removed deprecated MCP-specific type aliases and functions from tool-discovery module, consolidating to unified generic tool discovery API.
- Migrated session and SDK code to use generic filterBySource() and collectDiscoverableTools() instead of MCP-specific variants.
- Removed deprecated interface members including hasQueuedMessages(), FocusPane, AcpBuiltinCommandRuntime, and legacy settings methods.
- Updated test suites to use renamed generic discovery methods and removed back-compat test coverage for legacy MCP shapes.
Add an explicit clear-scrollback render option for intentional transcript replacement and use it when switching, branching, reloading, or creating sessions. Regular active redraws continue to preserve terminal scrollback.
Fixes#1295
- Added a shared session command helper that aggregates extension, prompt, and skill slash commands.
- Updated ACP, extension UI, runtime-init, and task executor extension contexts to return session command data instead of empty arrays.
The extension shutdown context action installed by
ExtensionUiController.initializeHookRunner was an empty stub, so
ctx.shutdown() in interactive mode silently did nothing while extensions
fell back to process.exit(0), bypassing session flush and terminal
restore. Flip InteractiveModeContext.shutdownRequested so the main
loop's existing checkShutdownRequested() drives the graceful path.
Fixes#1020.
- Removed title-source aware branching from session terminal-title and accent helpers, and updated callers to use session name plus cwd only.
