Added TCP server transport for vscode-js-debug and recursively handled startDebugging requests, breakpoint synchronization, active child routing, and tree cleanup.
Fixes#5984
- Added the `xd://` virtual device protocol (`internal-urls/xd-protocol.ts`, `tools/xdev.ts`): tools declaring `loadMode: "discoverable"` are unmounted from the request tools array and driven via `read xd://` (list/docs+schema) and `write xd://<tool>` (execute), gated by the `tools.xdev` setting (default on) and inlined into the system prompt.
- Merged the `irc`, `job`, and `launch` tools into a single `hub` tool (`tools/hub/`, `async/job-manager.ts`): messaging keeps `send`/`inbox`/`list`, job control maps to `wait`/`cancel`/`jobs`, process supervision keeps `start`/`logs`/`stop`/`restart`/`describe` with `ps`, and the unified `wait` races background jobs against peer messages; SDK `IrcTool`/`JobTool`/`LaunchTool` are replaced by `HubTool`.
- Removed the hidden `resolve` tool in favor of the `xd://resolve`/`xd://reject`/`xd://propose` resolution devices, auto-including `write` whenever a deferrable tool or plan mode is present.
- Removed the BM25 tool-discovery system: the `search_tool_bm25` tool, the `tool-discovery` module, the `tools.discoveryMode`/`mcp.discoveryMode`/`mcp.discoveryDefaultServers`/`tools.essentialOverride` settings, per-tool MCP selection, and the `mcp_tool_selection` message type.
- Unified tool presentation on `ToolLoadMode` (`essential`|`discoverable`), replacing the custom-tool `xdev?: boolean` opt-out; custom, extension, MCP, RPC host, image-generation, and TTS tools now default to `discoverable`, and added a `satisfies` predicate to `SoftToolRequirement`.
- Removed the standalone `ssh` command tool and `ssh/ssh-executor` (the `ssh://` read/write/search protocol stays), and made `--tools` address hidden built-ins.
- Updated collab-web to render `xd://` dispatches and `hub` op families, dropped the `search_tool_bm25`/`ssh`/`report-finding` renderers, refreshed tool docs and prompts, and migrated the affected tests and changelogs.
- Updated prewalk gating in `AgentSession` to key the todo gate on active tools instead of registry presence, so deactivated todo tools no longer block prewalk handoff.
- Changed subprocess tool filtering so `todo` is stripped for normal subagents but retained when prewalk is armed, and propagated the prewalk state through tool-session setup.
- Added regression tests for restricted active-tool slates and prewalk/non-prewalk subagent tool propagation to verify todo is handled correctly in each case.
The agent:// path segment was always treated as a jq JSON-extraction key
against <parent>.md, so agent://Parent/Child loaded Parent.md and applied
.Child instead of resolving the nested child capsule Parent.Child.md. A
precise-planner reading its own scout child therefore got Not found.
The slash is now a hierarchy separator first: agent://Parent/Child resolves
Parent.Child.md (subagent children are allocated as dot-qualified ids). It
falls back to JSON extraction only when no nested output matches the path;
the ?q= query form is always extraction.

The DuckDuckGo provider hit api.duckduckgo.com (the Instant Answer API),
which only serves Wikipedia / Wolfram-Alpha-style topics — empty
AbstractText / Results / RelatedTopics for the vast majority of agent
queries. The orchestrator then rejected the empty response and surfaced
'DuckDuckGo returned no renderable search content', leaving users with
no working free fallback.
Switch the provider to POST html.duckduckgo.com/html/ (the no-JS HTML
frontend) with a browser User-Agent, parse the result blocks (unwrapping
//duckduckgo.com/l/?uddg=… redirect URLs), and map recency to the df
form field (d/w/m/y). When DuckDuckGo serves the bot-detection modal
(HTTP 200/202 with anomaly-modal body) we surface a clear
SearchProviderError so the orchestrator can fall through to the next
provider with cause attached.
Fixes#3799
- Renamed the `find` and `search` tools to `glob` and `grep` respectively across the codebase to improve command clarity.
- Implemented full-stack support for the renamed tools, including CLI arguments, system prompts, SDK exports, and tool registration.
- Added automated migration logic in `settings` to transform legacy `find` and `search` configuration keys to their new equivalents.
- Updated the `collab-web` renderer registry to ensure backwards compatibility with legacy tool outputs.
- Added tree-sitter markdown support to resolve headings into full sections in `pi-ast`.

- Added compatibility tests to verify rendering and execution for both legacy and current operation formats.
The eval agent() helper used `agent_type`/`return_handle` (snake_case) in
Python/Ruby/Julia and `agentType`/`returnHandle` (camelCase) in JS, forcing
the prelude docs to repeat every option twice ("JS same but camelcased").
Both are now single lowercase words identical across all four runtimes, and
`agent` matches the `task` tool's existing agent-selection parameter.
- Renamed across py/js/rb/jl preludes (signatures, forwarding, docstrings).
- Renamed the `__agent__` bridge wire protocol + `EvalAgentArgs` (`agentType`
→ `agent`, `returnHandle` → `handle`) so no prelude-side remap is needed.
- Updated prompt docs (workflow-notice.md, tools/eval.md), repo docs
(docs/tools/eval.md, docs/python-repl.md), and all bridge/prelude tests.

- Added logic to clear stale transcript content when associated session files are deleted, accompanied by verifying test cases.
- Centralized decoding of tmux's `extended-keys` control sequences (`csi-u` and `xterm` formats) into a shared utility.
- Updated the multi-line editor and single-line input to use this decoder, preventing escape tails (e.g., `[27;5;106~`) from leaking into the text buffer.
- Added parity to the single-line input by explicitly stripping any remaining control characters after decoding to ensure data integrity.
- Removed the `fflate` dependency in favor of using `node:zlib` for ZIP operations.
- Updated documentation and internal code comments to reflect the transition to native `node:zlib` DEFLATE support.
- Centralized archive operations into a new `utils/zip.ts` module with unified support for ZIP, tar, and tar.gz formats.
