- Added compaction.asyncEnabled (Async Compaction, default on): when
context enters the pre-threshold band [threshold - lead, threshold)
with lead = clamp(threshold * 0.125, 8192, 32000), maintenance
speculatively summarizes in the background off a branch snapshot
(first configured LLM-backed method: remote, handoff, or soft) using
a side session id isolated from the live turn. Crossing the threshold
splices the armed result in instantly instead of blocking on a
summarization round-trip. Armed results are invalidated by branch
changes, reset boundaries, model switches that strand provider-native
replay payloads, and context growth past keepRecentTokens (which
re-speculates); extensions registering session_before_compact keep
exact blocking semantics (speculation disabled).
- Reworked handoff to commit in place: /handoff and the auto handoff
method now write the generated document as a regular compaction entry
on the current session (summary = document + <files> tag, cut from
prepareCompaction) instead of starting a new session. SessionHandoff
shrank to a document generator; session_before_switch/session_switch
no longer fire with reason "handoff"; mid-turn maintenance no longer
suppresses the handoff preference; overflow recovery can apply an
armed handoff result.
- Extracted the shared auto-compaction commit tail
(#commitAutoCompactionResult / #commitCompactionEntry) used by the
blocking production path, the armed speculative apply, manual
compaction, and manual handoff.
- Status line pulses the auto-compact icon while a speculation runs and
holds it in accent once a result is armed.
- Exported remotePreserveReusable from pi-agent-core/compaction for
apply-time validation of speculative remote results.
Three tests fail on a clean checkout depending on where the repo lives and
which terminal runs the suite:
- status-line-path builds its fake home inside the checkout, so a clone under
/tmp lands in a SCRATCH_ROOTS prefix and renders the scratch icon.
- status-line/component renders a fixed 120 columns, so a long checkout path
or branch name pushes the cost segment out of the assertion.
- bash-executor runs an interactive login zsh, which loads the system
/etc/zshrc; under Apple Terminal that appends session-save lines to the
captured output. HOME does not isolate a system-level file.
- Added `tui.scrollbackRebuild` configuration with interactive startup/controller wiring to apply `setScrollbackRebuild`.
- Exposed prewalk session state in `SegmentContext` and rendered a dedicated prewalk segment/icon in the status line.
- Added divergence-aware TUI full-paint logic that enables scrollback erase-and-replay rebuilds for non-multiplexer divergence cases.
- Updated rendering and streaming tests to verify rebuild behavior (`3J`) and eliminate stale marker expectations under drift scenarios.
- Added vibeMode property to mock context in status line unit tests.
- Ensured test helper functions maintain consistency with updated segment context.
- Added a Usage.orchestration sidecar for provider-side service tokens so Responses/Codex totals and costs stay accurate without inflating visible prompt input/cache buckets.
- Updated Codex/WebSocket usage, session/status aggregates, and usage reporting to preserve orchestration-aware totals.
- Added regressions for OpenAI Responses accounting, Codex WebSocket terminal usage, cost calculation, and session aggregation.
Fixes#4469
- Collapsed git worktree path in status line to project name with icon.
- Fixed out-of-workspace file edits by including the full path in headers.
- Fixed structured output schema violations by correctly handling payload nesting in terminal yields.
- Added test suites for git worktree logic, out-of-cwd reading, and subagent output serialization.
- Added `statusLine.compactThinkingLevel` setting to render the thinking level as a leading icon.
- Replaced the verbose ` · <level>` suffix with a single glyph when compact mode is enabled.
- Updated the status line controller and component to resolve and propagate the new configuration.
The time_spent segment rendered Date.now() - sessionStartTime, so an
idle session displayed hours of "time spent" while the agent did
nothing — the only inputs were wall-clock and the unmoving session
start.
Replace sessionStartTime with activeMs in SegmentContext and accumulate
inside StatusLineComponent across agent_start -> agent_end windows.
markActivityStart/markActivityEnd are idempotent (reentrant agent_start
events and superseded agent_end events never double-count); the segment
ticks live during an open window and freezes when the agent yields.
The session-boundary hook drops the now-meaningless wall-clock argument
and is renamed setSessionStartTime -> resetActiveTime; it zeroes the
accumulator and drops any in-flight window so /clear / fresh-session /
joined-collab paths start the meter at zero.
Fixes#3681
The CI gate failed in several non-overlapping ways once the full coding-agent suite ran here: tests wrote into the real $HOME (`/srv/agent-home`) which is read-only, a fixture rotated stored Anthropic API keys but Settings reloaded the user models.yml and shadowed them, an OAuth callback server bound to `hostname:"localhost"` (loopback unreachable in this runtime), a built-in tool metadata assertion only saw `github` when `gh` was installed, and the GithubTool `pr_checkout` worktree assertions assumed `~/.omp/wt` but `XDG_DATA_HOME` redirected `getWorktreesDir()` to `$XDG_DATA_HOME/omp/wt`.
Fixes:
- `packages/ai/src/registry/oauth/callback-server.ts`: drop `hostname: "localhost"` when no caller-supplied hostname overrides it. Bun on Linux refused inbound connections to the listener when bound explicitly to `localhost`; defaulting to Bun.serves default binding restores loopback connectivity.
- `packages/coding-agent/test/status-line-path.test.ts`: route the `~/Projects` fixtures through a writable temp home (spy `os.homedir()`), housed under the repo `.wt/` worktree scratch so the temp home is not classified as a status-line scratch root.
- `packages/coding-agent/test/skills.test.ts`: ditto for the `~/.pi-skills-test-*` mkdtemp in the tilde-expansion test.
- `packages/coding-agent/test/marketplace/project-scope.test.ts`: stop writing `~/.git`; build the entire home-dir guard fixture in a temp dir and spy `os.homedir()`.
- `packages/coding-agent/test/oauth-flow.test.ts`: wrap each callback fetch in a brief retry so the simulated browser redirect tolerates the few-ms gap before the Bun callback server starts accepting connections.
- `packages/coding-agent/test/tools/gh.test.ts`: extend `setupTempHome()` to clear `XDG_DATA_HOME`/`XDG_STATE_HOME`/`XDG_CACHE_HOME` for the duration of the test so the rebuilt dirs resolver routes `getWorktreesDir()` back through the spied home, then restore them on cleanup.
- `packages/coding-agent/test/tool-discovery/initial-tools.test.ts`: instantiate `GithubTool` directly in the metadata fixture so the assertion runs even when `gh` is unavailable (GithubTool.createIf returns null without `gh`).
- `packages/coding-agent/test/agent-session-retry-cap.test.ts`: pass an isolated `models.yml` path to `ModelRegistry` so the two-Anthropic-key fixture is the authoritative credential source instead of any user-level command-backed Anthropic key.
Verification:
- `bun check` → passed
- `bun run test` (full coding-agent suite, 4 buckets, all chunks) → 0 fails
Fixes#3639
Migrate 203 test files (356 call sites) from fs.rm/fs.rmSync to
removeWithRetries/removeSyncWithRetries to reduce EBUSY test failures
on Windows. removeWithRetries is now exported from @oh-my-pi/pi-utils.
The migration uses a regex-based approach that:
- Replaces fs.rm(path, { recursive, force }) → removeWithRetries(path)
- Replaces fs.rmSync(path, { recursive, force }) → removeSyncWithRetries(path)
- Replaces fs.rm(path) → removeWithRetries(path) (no options)
- Skips fs.rm/fs.rmSync inside template literals (bun --eval scripts)
- Adds imports to existing @oh-my-pi/pi-utils import or creates new one
- Removes unused fs imports where fs.rm was the only fs usage (4 files)
- Updated status line to display token usage with an unknown context marker (" 5K/? ") when the model context window is unavailable.
- Updated `fugu` model specifications in `models.json` and catalog constants with corrected pricing, increased context windows, and disabled stream idle timeouts.
- Corrected OpenAI usage accounting by excluding redundant orchestration input tokens in `openai-shared` logic.
- Added `retry.maxDelayMs` to the settings schema and interfaces, with a default cap for provider backoff delays.
- Updated session auto-retry logic to fail fast when a requested wait exceeds the cap without fallback, emitting terminal auto-retry failure state.
- Propagated retry state and failure data into task progress and rendering so children show retry/wait details and reminder prompts stop after terminal errors.
The status-line path segment was selecting theme.icon.scratchFolder for scratch directories regardless of opts.stripWorkPrefix, while the CHANGELOG promised both behaviors honor the option. Icon selection now uses the same opts.stripWorkPrefix !== false gate as the scratch path stripping, so disabling stripWorkPrefix keeps the regular folder icon even when the project directory is inside a scratch root.
- Updated the status-line path segment to detect project directories under OS scratch roots and strip the scratch root when rendering.
- Switched scratch-root paths to use the new icon.scratchFolder glyph and registered that symbol across theme variants.
- Added tests covering scratch-root trimming, nested scratch subpaths, and non-scratch fallback icon behavior.
- Added getOpenAIReasoningModel to wrap the bundled gpt-5-mini model with a non-gpt-5 name in tests.
- Replaced all OpenAI responses test model constructions using gpt-5-mini with the new helper to bypass reasoning-model branching during payload assertions.
- Added loop-mode command handling in interactive mode, including enable/disable toggling, repeated auto-submission scheduling, and Escape-based cancellation.
- Propagated loop mode state to the status line via a renamed `mode` segment that now renders plan or loop status, and updated presets/theme assets for the new loop icon.
- Migrated persisted status-line segment usage from `plan_mode` to `mode` in configuration defaults and normalization so legacy settings continue to load.
- Added symlink and path alias resolution to session directory handling for consistent behavior across aliased home and temp directories.
- Improved status line path display to strip display roots using canonical path resolution, correctly handling symlink-equivalent directory aliases.
- Added support for quoted paths in grep, ast_grep, and find tools to properly handle directory names with spaces.
- Improved ast_grep error messaging when no matches found with parse errors to suggest narrowing path/glob or setting language.
- Extracted path utility functions (resolveEquivalentPath, normalizePathForComparison, pathIsWithin, relativePathWithinRoot) to shared utils package.
- Added comprehensive test coverage for symlink alias resolution in status line path rendering and session directory handling.
